UofA MEPN 2021

Published

Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.

A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.

Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.

Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!

I think a facebook page is a great idea! Does anyone know if/when we would receive scholarship or financial aid information? Or if someone who already has a bachelors in another field would even qualify for aid? I'm super interested in attending the program, but it seems like a really drastic (and expensive because I'm out of state) decision to make on a weeks notice with very little info provided.

I have a bachelors degree too, and tried to find what works best. U of A has really good mix of scholarships available through their scholarship universe, it's again not available directly with the undergrad application. (Please validate). You have to apply to them later.

More info here : https://financialaid.arizona.edu/scholarshipuniverse

Reg. U of A scholarships/aid that are considered through the application, I heard, they are only available for first time BSN's. I could be wrong. ?

Keep digging...

Does anyone know the BSN-IH curriculum?

Are some days in-person and others fully online?

I’m a parent of 2 littles and home is in Tucson. Not sure if I can drive to Gilbert or will need to move.

I’d love to know that too, I assume they’ll go over it in the advising session though! Hopefully that’s soon. Does anyone know current BSN-IH students?

We’ll ask our advisor on Monday.  ??Maybe a group of Phx MEPN & BSN-IH students might all be looking for housing too.?? Just an idea ?

Craigslist was super sketchy when I looked and so maybe there will be a more safe place to find similar students /roommates

If you look in the on boarding packet they emailed, BSN-IH has a facebook group that the advisors admin. Which is super nice! I know they promote looking for housing and stuff on there too ?

Does anyone know what date in May the BSN-IH program starts? Or when we would be expected to be down at campus for orientation?

I heard it as May 17th, please validate , but you will get the schedule shortly I guess after completing all admission formalities.

Also, does anyone know when we’ll hear more details about Mepn? I accepted my spot and got the initial onboarding packet but I still have a lot of questions. Do you know when we hear from them next? Not until the grad school admission in April? Thanks!

Per Jason H (Clinical Coordinator), we should expect to receive CastleBranch and other immunization/onboarding items this upcoming week or the next.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a fingerprint clearance card? I submitted the application and I'm now waiting to receive a blank card in the mail, just curious how long the entire process will take.

For me it took less than a week. May be depends on individual history.

Is anyone from the MEPN program looking for housing yet? I’m visiting AZ in a few weeks to look at areas... kinda scared to sign a lease in case things are still online by May
