Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.
A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.
Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.
Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!
I’ve also heard that by Friday, Feb 26 we will find out if we we got into BSN-IH Gilbert.
I applied to MEPN and BSN-IH since they are about the same program length and both lead to RN. Sending good luck to all ?
I really want Tucson since I have kids here and home is here.
I’m an alternate and haven’t heard anything. I think Friday is the deadline for people to send their intentions for MEPN but you never know who may rescind before May 17th.
I’m a hopefully alternate but IDK which # on the list.

I met with one of the advisors last week. I asked for a ballpark of when we might here, ideally they would like everyone to know their choices by the 26th. They advisor did say that they can notify us anytime between now and up until the week before classes start! I’m hoping for Tucson too as I have a house here.

Have any MEPN alternates been offered a spot?Thank you for this group and your encouragement
Just my acceptance for BSN-IH too:) haven’t been offered a MEPN spot, but that’s okay. Now to figure out a living situation ?

Congrats all, Appreciate your inputs @Amy H I think its a worth while wait for you to pursue with U of A BSN-IH. I live in the Gilbert area so I am sure that search wouldn't be hard :) . I also understood your inputs about past interview/Kira exp and how folks w/ medical background have a distinctive edge in U of A Nursing admissions. Again thank you!!
I opted for CEP/NAU and wish you all good luck for the journey ahead in to Nursing!!

They can be found here : length I think is 15 months from May.
BSN-IH (Fall 2019)
Degree Total Tuition**
Residents: $32,612 Non-Residents: $81,812
Tuition per Year**
Residents: $16,306 Non-Resident: $40,906
**Total Cost is based after admission in BSN-IH and Pre-Requisite classes completed.

Thank you! I guess I’m just a bit confused as to why it’s ~$30k more than the MEPN program when the two are nearly the same length.

I think its 10k more for residents vs. 30k non-residents and MePN is a flat rate program. You can also refer to course catalog to see the courses and why they are higher. it boils down to number of courses as BSN-IH is online (for courses - someone plz confirm) vs. MEPN Is in-person learning.
** Also you see MePN is NOT typical MSN , one has to take MSN/DNP again to become APRN/NP/ other tracks fyi.
Degree Total Tuition
Residents: $42,933 Non-Residents: $51,933

Does anyone want to make a facebook group for the BSN-IH? I think it’d be a nice idea so we could all stay in touch ?
