who applied to umb for the fall 2008 term?

My name is Victoria and I applied Fall 2008 for the baltimore campus. I got in! Now I'm just waiting on the nursing packet...

Yeah, the nursing packet is taking forever

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.

Congratulations and best of luck to you all!

What is in the nursing packet. Also, when are we able to register for classes?

hey,

do you guys know of any dates that we should keep free, just in case there are any information sessions or pre-advising appointments?

man.. the wait for the packet IS taking FOREVER!

I hope I get to see some of you guys at the shady grove campus. do u know how any of the professors are? and if they are pretty much the same as the Baltimore professors?

thanks!

I saw something cruising around the web site discussing how the students are responsible for contacting their advisor. Does the web site SIMS system list your advisor? If you look under the current students tab, theyhave an online orientation link. It has some information regarding the steps to finding your advisor, meeting, and registering. It sounds like your advisor will have to sign off on your registration before it goes through.

I applied for fall 2008 also, and I got accepted to the Baltimore campus. I'm also waiting for that information packet :anbd:. Friday I got my acceptance letter from Anne Arundel Community College, and they included some basic information pertaining to health and immunization records, the criminal background check, C.P.R class, and the orientation. It would have been nice if UMB did the same, but I don't know maybe they are trying to save paper and only send that information to the people who have committed to attending.

Thanks to the information I've read on this site and on UMB's site, I think I can go back to patiently waiting for that packet. I've read enough to hold me over for now. I just hope they don't hold the orientation during the two weeks I will be out of town. Knowing my luck they will

Congratulations to everyone else who got accepted.

Congratulations to you all! I just finished my first year there, so I may see you this fall. I remember the seemingly never ending amount of papers that needed to get filled out, just write all the important stuff down and keep a schedule because it is so easy to forget deadlines.

The curriculum at shady grove is the same as baltimore but the professors are different. I have had some problems with them but for the most part they are good. If you have any other questions let me know!

Are you able to take the NURS 405 Nursing Informatics class web based?

Also, when do you begin having class/lab/clinical on Wed or Thur?

I'm hoping to begin jan '09 and am trying to think ahead about a child care schedule. Thanks for any info!

Specializes in Peri-op/Sub-Acute ANP.

Informatics is available on-line.

It's hard to say what your schedule for clinicals/labs might be like next year (of course, you don't have clinicals first semester). Depends on availability of lab instructors and clinical sites and tends to be a little fluid.

Rather than focus now on what your schedule might be like then, the best advice I can give you is to make sure that you have plenty of back-up sitters. The school can, and does, ask that you come in on a weekend to do make-ups and things, and like I said, they expect a lot of flexibility from you. This can be frustrating, but you may as well start planning for it now.

To all who got into UM baltimore: A) congrats!!! B) what was your overall and pre-req GPA?

I am applying for fall 09 and just checking to see if there is any flexibility. Some schools here in louisiana did not accept me because they included the original grade of classes that are retaken. Thanks.
