HI! I just received my test report form in ielts. Well, I'm not happy with the result, actually I feel so depressed. I got 6.5 in speaking test, but I need to have atleast 7 to qualify me to apply for a visa screen certificate in CGFNS/ICHP. The rest of my scores though are okay. This is my fourth time to take the test and I always get 6 or 6.5 in speaking test. I already enrolled in a review center and even speak to a native english speaker (american) regularly to improve my speaking skills but my scores did not improve. I don't know what else to do. I'm thinking maybe there are other english speaking countries out there beside U.S. which only require a minimum band score of 6.5 in speaking? Please help! I'm tired of retaking the test just to get atleast 7 spoken band.
hello guys.. i think i have the same story to tell.. L-8.5, R-8.0, W-6.5?, S-7: I need all 7. this is actually the second time that I took the Test.. on my first take I also got 6.5 but i didn't ask for recheck. but this time I am more confident with my writing skills as I know I have improved.. Do you think I should go for recheck?? and one more thing.. Can anyone check my essay??, i wanted to post the most closest essay that i could make..
the question was: Crime rates among teenagers is on the rise. What do you think are the reasons? What can be the punishments? give reasons and examples.
My essay goes some kind of like this:
The marvelous existence of human beings has been bombarded with multiple dilemmas in this contemporary period. The society is terrified of the augmenting cases of crimes. What is more alarming for the public is the involvement of the juveniles to such unlawful activities. To resolve this progressing predicament, the causes must be understood and appropriate punishments should be laid down.
More and more younger individuals participate in several criminal acts as broadcasted in the news at this moment. The solution of this problem can be determined when reasons are identified. First, lack of parental guidance is considered as a major cause of the perplexity. According to psychologists, the absence of positive role model for children results to their anti-social behavior. In addition, exposure from different multimedia that showcase violence can also be a source. The influence of television, Internet, and among others to the young generation makes them think that what they are absorbing from it are accepted by the community. Meanwhile, government's poor control over the negative information adds up to the complexity. As a consequence, the youths gain an easy access to numerous resources.
The growing cancer of the society is perceived to be controlled and managed when proper measures are provided. One of which is obliging the young ones to perform community service and good deeds. It is a win-win situation as the community benefits from the adaptive behavior while the person learns and understands what is wrong and what is right. The juveniles must also be asked to attend seminars together with their parents or guardians that talk about being a good citizen and responsible parents. Moreover, the authoritative power of the state must also strengthen their scope to greatly lessen the exposure of the youths from bad media.
As a synopsis, the escalating cases of juvenile delinquencies are becoming a huge predicament for the community. Absence of parental guidance, overexposure to negative media, and weak state control are among of the foreseen causes why this plight is occurring. Furthermore, enforcing outlaws to accomplish community works and to undergo disciplinary seminars might help to mandate the young ones behavior. In addition, making the state power stronger over different wrongful resources increases the possibility of resolving the dilemma. Hence, a safer world to live is expected in the future.
this is as far as I remember.. hopefully it can be graded.. :redbeathe
Hey everyone! I got a score of 6.0 in speaking but an overall of 7.5 which is fine. My concern is the speaking score. Do you guys think I should have it rechecked? I read a couple of you guys did that and fortunately got them changed. It's for my endorsement in Arizona,, Please let me know what you think =)
Roseller your English is far above some of the nurses that I've worked with in past and present. If you didn't get a passing grade on your essay I believe it was harshly graded. There are minor details that can be over looked because it's clear that you really got your point across but there are also some grammatical errors that IMO shouldn't have caused the score that you received. Had I been the judge I would have passed your essay.
I also believe that when they give the English exam it should be based on your area of expertise. But that's just me. Good Luck
hi everyone, i hope you can help me. i took my IELTS last month and my results came out yesterday. i was quite disappointed because i'm confident with what i wrote but then i was graded with only 6.5, i need 7 in all sub tests. L-8 R-7 W-6.5 S-7. i took my exam under IDP and i'm planning to file for an appeal. i had read different stories of triumph and failures. what would be the best thing to do? and if i'm going for an appeal how much will it cost and can i have British council assess me if i took my exam under IDP? EOR of IDP is quite expensive so i was thinking if it is possible for me to go with British council.
If you believe that you really deserve a 7 in writing, then you could probably file for an appeal. But it could go both ways. They could give you the 7 you want or in a worse case scenario, they could give you the same score or maybe even lower. Not to put you down, but you have to be prepared for anything.
Alternatively, you could just take the exam again. I'm sure you'll get an even higher score.
