University of Washington's BSN program 2014

Published

Good morning!

So I'm going to try this whole process over again, as a repeat offender...I mean applicant for UW's BSN program 2014. I applied last year, made it through the proctored essay portion but was not accepted. After nursing (haha) my wounds w/ large amounts of ice cream, chocolate & such, I've recently found my mojo to try again. Anyone else re-applying or 1st time applying for 2014? I know it's extremely early in the game, but those deadlines come up faster than you think! I've saved all the tips applicants that have applied more than once and hope that 2nd time is the charm.

Anyone else out there getting ready for it? We got this :D

Wow! Congrats abalone!!!

Congrats abalone!! Young idealist thanks for the support!

This entire month is dragging!! I can only play candy crush & angry birds so many times before I have to come back to this thread & worry ;)

You should play QuizUp... so addicting. haha.

I love you abalone for that response, how important is it to set up that e-mail through UW? The generic e-mail we all got to set it up?

Specializes in CVSICU.

It is important if you get in. It will be how you access all UW stuff including your UW email (Alpine), as well as HMC & UWMC computers, if you are assigned to clinical at these sites. Also, keep in mind, you are required to use UW email for all school related activities (r/t HIPPA security/privacy). You can NOT forward your email to gmail or other email prviders (as everyone else on campus does). You might use Alpine email (or MS Outlook or Mozilla Thurnderbird on your computer).

You may have this UW ID for a long time, especially if you get hired at HMC or UWMC. So, pick a handle you are happy with and one that is easy and short. Mine is my first initial and last name (quick to type and professional).

Cheers!

PS: UW DNP acceptance letters came out today! So, UW BSN letters should be out shortly. When I applied, they were sent out 2 weeks early. In 2012, I received it the last day of March. Good luck!!!!

Update on admissions blog, abalone was right! Looking like late March they'll be sent out!! :D

2014 Graduate Applicant Admissions Notifications

Updated on March 13th, 2014 at 2:32 pm

Admissions notification letters have been mailed to applicants for our Master of Nursing (MN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science (PhD), and Graduate Certificate (GCPAPN) programs. If you do not receive a letter by the end of next week, please contact our front desk (206-543-8736).

BSN applications are still under consideration, and admissions letters will go out in late March.

Last year's acceptance letter was 5-6 pages in a legal envelope so if they haven't changed it you're still going to want some thickness. My biggest piece of advice if you get it: do everything compliance-related as soon as possible, especially the immunizations and CPR. Also celebrate~

Finals week next week PLUS waiting for this letter... I am stuh-ress-ed!! :nailbiting:

Jobby-Do you know if they accept CNA certification for your CPR? For example I was healthcare provider CPR qualified, HIV, etc. I know I'm putting the cart before the horse, but just trying to get an idea for costs, timeframe, etc. Also, would we be allowed to sign up for a summer course? I'd really like to slim down fall semester if I do get into the program b/c I'll still be working full time on active duty until Feb.

Not speaking for UW but no one so far has taken CNA for CPR. You have to re-certify in "CPR for healthcare providers" every 2 years regardless of your licensure (is that a word?).

I think I have a seperate certificate that say I am healthcare provider CPR qualified, I just wasn't sure if they wanted to have it done by UW specific personnel? Hmmm, I'll have to check my records when I get home. Thanks for that information though, I didn't know it could be seperated to re-qualify :) Is it the end of March yet?!
