Good morning!
So I'm going to try this whole process over again, as a repeat offender...I mean applicant for UW's BSN program 2014. I applied last year, made it through the proctored essay portion but was not accepted. After nursing (haha) my wounds w/ large amounts of ice cream, chocolate & such, I've recently found my mojo to try again. Anyone else re-applying or 1st time applying for 2014? I know it's extremely early in the game, but those deadlines come up faster than you think! I've saved all the tips applicants that have applied more than once and hope that 2nd time is the charm.
Anyone else out there getting ready for it? We got this
Ugh me too! It's bad enough I'm counting down until my hubby comes home from his 6 month deployment but I gotta drag through the time with this too?!
So as I was filling out paperwork for my Air Force commissioning program, I had to manually calculate my cumalative GPA, I didn't realize it wasn't that great, a 3.45 my pre-reqs is awesome, I think it was a 3.8? Do you think one weighs heavier than the other? Ugh I just keep imagining getting the rejection letter all over again. I knew when I pulled it out of the mailbox that it was (so skinny, aren't acceptance letters fat??) lol.
Ok we need positive thinking!! We will get into UW!! We will be rocking purple scrubs, with no sleep & stress up to our eyeballs & we will love it & hate it all at the same time. We'll look back in a year and go remember when we thought stressing out was waiting for our acceptance letter?! We were so silly
So if my enevelope from UW is skinny then I shouldnt open it. Dory do you have any healthcare experience? I only have a 3.4 as well and today at work someone was saying that a studen right now was accepted last year with only a 3.1 because of her experience. This makes me feel a little better but Im with you guys feeling a but anxious about getting my rejection letter.
I remember reading that they prefer you to do your experiences at different healthcare settings each with a hundred hours. Of course it would look great if you spend like 300 at one settings but they would like to see a variety. I also remember that they also look at what you do outside of "nursing related stuff" to see how you are involve with your community like volunteering at a shelter home or join a club in your community. My gpa is only a 3.2, so I'm a bit worried.
I am relying heavily on my healthcare experience. Ive work at two hospitals and a nursing home and I have thousands of volunteer working with at risk youth. My resume is the only thing I am relying on right now! I am not letting myself stalk the mailbox till April 15! Not expecting to hear anything till then, since they did leave me hanging till 5:00 the day they announced who is taking the proctored essay. I was a WRECK that day!
Anyone get an email to see up their UW account? It says to set it up so that if you become a UW student, your username will become your UW email address. So um....sounds like it's a step in the right direction to at least be considered and hopefully down the road accepted into UW? I know it means nothing in regards to UW SoN but at least it's a start? :)
