University of Washington's BSN program 2014

Published

Good morning!

So I'm going to try this whole process over again, as a repeat offender...I mean applicant for UW's BSN program 2014. I applied last year, made it through the proctored essay portion but was not accepted. After nursing (haha) my wounds w/ large amounts of ice cream, chocolate & such, I've recently found my mojo to try again. Anyone else re-applying or 1st time applying for 2014? I know it's extremely early in the game, but those deadlines come up faster than you think! I've saved all the tips applicants that have applied more than once and hope that 2nd time is the charm.

Anyone else out there getting ready for it? We got this :D

Okay guys! Today is the day. Wish you guys the best, write as much as you can in this hour and make it the BEST essay ever from the bottom of your heart!! See you guys in a few hours! GOOD LUCK! Let us become the future UW NURSING STUDENTS.

So I had to have my essay proctored due to having to work. I just finished & feel pretty confident that I did well. It's now all up to the committee. How do you guys feel? Hope it went well!!

i feel i just wrote off my chances of any possible acceptance.. while i was confident in the essay and finished 15 minutes early, i realized my math calculations were way too long.. when they only needed like 2 steps.. so i crossed out my original calculations and rewrote the simpler ones.. -.- FAIL lol. best wishes to the rest of you! lets try to keep each other sane =) Just_keep_swimming, aka dory, i'm glad you felt good about it ^^

But you wrote them in time right?

Don't give up hopefullbe! They look at everything! You still have a chance. Good luck everyone!

What scenario did everyone pick? I feel confident about my essay, but boy were those math questions AWFUL! I know I got one wrong and one right, I don't know about the third one. Do you get automatically disqualified if you get the math questions wrong? I kind of had a mini panic attack when I first read them all. I was expecting much more basic math then that!

I picked scenario A, what about you guys?

Same here, I don't know if all the scenarios are the same, but A for me was a deaf female patient and I know sign language so I felt that I would be able to communicate most effectively with her.

Man! I the math threw me off! I felt like it was harder than last year. I pick scenario B. I was like oh this sound good. Didn't bother reading the rest. Glad it was over. Now we just have to wait til mid April.

I went with scenario C (I think? 25YOM w/HIV). I feel pretty good about it. The math was easy. I still worry about things like my overall GPA, but the essay portion was fine. I finished early too. I was glad to get out of there before everyone else - I imagined it would be a huge rush at the end.

Last year letters went out on 20 March, hoping it's the same this year! I just keep trying to remember what I wrote...I put who I picked and then I put a strength & gave a previous healthcare example then tied it into how it relates to caring for my current patient, same for weakness/challenge & how to grow. Math was easy but I had issues bc I could look at it & see what the answer was but couldn't figure how to write it out how I got the answer lol. Ugh the waiting is the worst!! Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!! The hard part is over, we've done everything we could...now we stare at the calendar as the next month+ drags on!

I tried to make the math harder than it actually was... because - stress. hehehe When I looked back at the question I just thought... Oh geez.

I also chose scenario 1 because I know ASL. This one was 1000x better than last year. My essay last year was a written reason why I shouldn't be accepted. Hahah

Now just ~2 months to wait. :sarcastic:
