University of Washington's BSN program 2014

Published

Good morning!

So I'm going to try this whole process over again, as a repeat offender...I mean applicant for UW's BSN program 2014. I applied last year, made it through the proctored essay portion but was not accepted. After nursing (haha) my wounds w/ large amounts of ice cream, chocolate & such, I've recently found my mojo to try again. Anyone else re-applying or 1st time applying for 2014? I know it's extremely early in the game, but those deadlines come up faster than you think! I've saved all the tips applicants that have applied more than once and hope that 2nd time is the charm.

Anyone else out there getting ready for it? We got this :D

Wait, justkeepswimming, we had to say how to grow? I don't remember reading that part at all! In the beginning the lady said that their is no wrong answer, that didn't have anything to do with the math portion did it? Do we get automatically disqualified if we get a math problem wrong.

It's over now we just have to wait the longest month. I thought the essay and overall the questions were so much better than last year. But I don't feel confident what so ever.... Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know if we're suppose to circle the scenario on that sheet that was handed out to us? In my essay, I clearly listed what scenario I picked.

Were the scenarios listed as 1, 2 or 3 instead of a, b, or c?

I don't believe so. I just stated which scenario I chose in my essay. They were listed 1,2,3 from what I remembered.

Thanks Kristen. I was stressing out about it for a while, but now I feel better after seeing your response!

The second or third question was how you would grow professionally & personally as a nurse by picking your scenario. "Grow" might not be the technical term.

Stressed out to the max last year! It was so intimidating being in the room with 200 people & not knowing what to expect. The topics were so much better than last year's essay!! All I did last year was repeat myself about creating a therapeutic healing environment over & over. And last year it was 5 paragraphs so my rambling was ridiculous & sad lol.

How many people wrote the proctored essay this year?

Land - to answer your question no your not didqualified. There were ppl accepted who didn't even finish the math portion (weird). But they look at each part of app and rank you. @dory- she said 230. I'm not sure if that included everyone in room only or also out of area applicants being supervised, she didn't clarify.

Oh and I chose 2. ^^

I think the 230 was all together out of the 476 who applied.

Sounds like it was the same as last year. nervous but feeling better than I did last year. What about my other repeat friends, was it what you expected? Did you change it up from last year?

So happy it's over! Also the stats aren't too bad, 96 (+possibly more from waiting list) will be accepted out of 230. MUCH better than 96 out of 472!

Now to play the waiting game...

Dory - oh and yes I answered them on time I just think I look worse than others because I had a bunch of cross outs -.- Haha. And I felt a bit better. I focused on talking about myself more from advice from previous accepted. I already had what I wanted to write in my head I think that helped. I think I also focused more on the questions. I think I strayed last year.
