University of Washington (UW) DNP 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Looked for another thread but couldn't find one, anyone applying to University of Washington's (UW) DNP program starting Autumn 2021?

What track is everyone applying to?

Does anyone know if any one thing is worth more weight in admissions (GPA, LORs, Experience, etc.)?

Does anyone know the profile of a competitive applicant? Someone in the 2020 thread posted a link for admission stats from 2018, looked like around a 35-45% acceptance rate, depending on the track.  I haven't been able to find any updated information. Anyone have any?

I'll be applying to the Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP track!

Unless anyone has further information, I found my notes from one of the information meetings and they had said they will admit 23 people for adult acute care and adult primary combined.  They didn't say what the breakdown would be for each, but I'd imagine somewhere around 50/50, so 11-12 students for AGPC and 11-12 for AGAC...not many spots.

Now I’m interested to know how many applied for the program this year!

In 2018, the AC program 45 applied, 21 admitted.  The PC program 36 applied, 17 admitted, per the UW grad school statistics breakdown on their site.

I applied for the FNP. With 3.5 years float pool and PCCN experience. I’m hopeful  there were fewer applicants this year since they are projecting 4 weeks for acceptance letters to go out. Seems like a quick turnaround for UW.  Good luck to everyone!!

Could be that I misheard and they said 23 for each AC and PC but I thought she said it was together and that if one had less applicants than the other, more would be admitted to the track with more applicants.  So maybe it's 23 each, but I think 23 total is plausible as well due to COVID, reduced capacity for students both academically and clinically?

I remember the director of AGPC saying that they would accept only 13-14 students for this cohort. But 23 total for both programs seems a little low. But who knows? You might be right about lower capacity due to COVID.

It's certainly discouraging ?

Hello,

Anyone here that applied to the population health track?

I called today and was told there were 96 applicants for the DNP FNP track, about 20 more than they normally receive ??

I guess this was to be expected based on the article someone posted about grad schools apps increasing during times of economic hardship. They also said the ABSN program had three times the normal amount of applicants this year. Sucks all the DNP programs are gonna have more applicants and only half the spots.

I was always told that more than 100 applicants apply to DNP FNP track and only 25 gets selected.

Anyone remember the admission statistic from last year for the FNP track from the info session?

I saw that in 2018, they had 95 applicants so not that much off because of COVID! They offered 33 acceptances.

Hey guys. My name is Kat and I'm a first year DNP student at UW in the FNP track. I applied and got in my first time around last year and so just wanted to pop in here and give you guys a little pick-me-up. Be confident and try not to freak out too much in this 4 week wait. I remember obsessively checking my email every morning. When that incredible email did come it was on a beautiful weekday morning when I was on vacation in Vegas. I always joked that Vegas would either make or break me LOL This was before the pandemic really hit ofc. My point is look forward to that absolute euphoric feeling you will get when you see the email, and even if you get waitlisted you might still get in. Many people in our year did. Im around if anyone ever wants to ask any questions! All the best and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Thank you Kat!  It’s so hard not to obsess during these four weeks. I really appreciate you searching for our thread and giving us hope. How are you liking the program so far?

Sorry for the late reply, school and work have me busy. I think the balance is great for me. I am per diem at the hospital so I can dedicate most of the week to assignments. Keeping the As so far and im happy with how everything is going despite the fact that it's distance learning. The university says it plans to open up campus in the fall so by the time u guys come in, hopefully we will be back to in-person. Course work is totally manageable in first year but be warned second year students have told us sh*t hits the fan that year and most people end up quitting their jobs or going per diem. BUT always keep in mind there were many who came before u and made it out alive and intact. Just take it one day at a time.
