University of Washington BSN 2016

Hey Guys!

Didn't see anyone start one yet for this application round for UW nursing and though may as well start one.

Hopefully this will help everyone out that reads this, and that joins into the conversation.

Ive been reading the past BSN application posts, and already learned a lot of info!

I also did the math section first. I got 20, 1.8 and 1400 for the questions. What else did everybody get?

The essay was good for me, I picked patient two and ran with it.

I think I got a math problem wrong due to misreading the problem. Doh! If I had more time to check my answers, I think I would have made the correction. I remember getting 1.8 and 1400 too.

I chose scenario 3.

Good luck everyone!

I got 20 and 1.8 also but I got math problem 3 wrong. I think it was the easiest one but I read 100mg in 12 hrs not 100mg every hr for 12 hrs. I complicated it. As I'm walking down to turn my paper in I realized I had messed up ☹☹ I chose scenario 2. It was the most interesting one to me. I think I did fine on my essay but I'm kicking myself for getting that math problem wrong. Oh well. I got into an Associates program starting spring so I need to concentrate on that in case UW skips me

Missing one math problem is okay! I remember them saying that it's hard for them to accept you if you miss two so you are fine. Congrats on getting in a an associate program though!

For the second problem, did you divide 90 into 150 and take that multiply it by 3mL if you remember the problem?

I got a different answer but I dont know how you guys got 1.8

For the second math question I broke it down by realizing that 3/5ths were ordered (90/150) so 3/5ths of 3 is 1.8 (.6+.6+.6). Not conventional but eh.

Can anyone remember the figures from math question 1? I got 20mL also, but have been driving myself nuts about it.

Specializes in SICU.

Hey! I got the same answers for the math portion: 20, 1.8, and 1400. I can't remember the math for the 1st one....I remember that at the end I had to divide 12 by .6, but don't remember what came before that. Maybe it'll come to me. Good job everyone! Be good to yourselves during these next 2 months of waiting.

I can't remember if i got 1.8 on question 2, but i do remember that i cross multiplied. So i would have done (90*3)/150 = 1.8. Hopefully that what i put down...

I chose scenario 1. I had a good draft in my head, but when I started writing I started to fell like i was repeating myself throughout the essay. Then when I got home I realized that I didn't mention anything about what it would be like to actually break the news to someone that their father died. I instead focused on the long term emotional toll. I also realized that there are probably some legal repercussions, though i'm not sure what those are. I briefly touched on that but not in depth since I didn't know much about that. Did anyone else think that the things that would challenge them were also the things they would gain from the experience? That's why I felt like I was repeating myself.

Agree savestheworld, I kept repeating that scenario 2 was a new kind of care for me and then kept changing the ways I would grow from treating said patient.

Thank you rva27 :) I appreciate your encouraging words

I felt like I kept repeating myself, looking back I wish I would have picked scenario 1 because I do have a lot of experience with that exact trauma but I wanted to show them that I could work outside of my comfort zone and picked the 2nd scenario :( I feel like I won't get in because I know I missed a math question as well as I rambled on my essay. :( I'm feeling so terrible about it all.

Hi all!

I also took the proctored essay last night and I left feeling like my essay was all over the place. Oh well, at least we're done and all we can do is wait :)
