What is the min. GPA and NET scores that have been accepted in the past for the BSN program? If anyone has info? Thanks
So, has anyone filled out the crim background check info yet? I went to the website as directed but don't see the link. I'm sure I'm just overlooking it! Just thought I'd check here before calling the school. Also, what does everyone plan to do for parking? I'm thinking of using one of the off campus lots and then riding the metro in. It's MUCH cheaper! I don't suppose anyone lives north....WAY north? :) I'm on Lake Conroe....quite a drive.
Becca, I was able to navigate to it but I remember there was an extra step to click on that was not included in our printed instructions. Sorry I don't remember exactly what that extra step was.
You all may have seen my other thread TWU vs UTHSC.... I'm still trying to decide. This is making me crazy! I know they are both great schools.
Becca, I was accepted for the generic BSN at UT for this upcoming Fall. If there are ever any overlaping clinical/class times, I would love to ride together. I live in the Woodlands. I am also a wife/mom with 4 kids, so I can understand having to juggle all of it. The generic program is now only 4 semesters including a summer, so I shouldn't be too far behind you. I thought about the accelerated Bacc-2 program at UT, but just wasn't sure about all of the classes online.... If you ever want to study, bouce ideas, or anything, just let me know. It wouldn't be far at all to meet up. Good luck!
Britt, I was accepted at both UT and TWU for the generic programs. I am so strongly leaning towards UT, but if you hear or know of any differences other than you mentioned in your other post, please let me know. I think at the end of the day, both schools have wonderful programs. It is just hard to formally tell one of them No Thanks. Good luck with your decision! Let us know where you end up.
Wow, Amm4, that'd be great! We should definately keep in touch. Once I know what days I'll be at school/clinical, I'll let you know. If nothing else, we might could study. How old are your kiddos? I've got 2 boys, 5 and 7. My youngest starts kindy this fall which is what prompted me to get this all going. :)
Hey Becca, that sound great! My kids are 3,5,7,9. My 5 yr old starts Kindergarten this Fall too and we had already decided to put my youngest in preschool. He is too active and curious to be at home with just me and none of his siblings to entertain him! :wink2: So, with all of them going to be out of the house, I started looking at school too. It seemed like the right time.
Still waiting on my packet to get here. My status changed on UTLInk last Friday. Waiting on the packet is driving me crazy! I would just like to start knocking out all the little things that have to be done. Oh, well...I am sure it will show up soon. In 6 months or so, I will probably be wishing I was back at this point just waiting on the packet, so I better enjoy it now! Feel free to PM me whenever you find out when you will be traveling down to school. Good luck with it all!
Oh my God, the waiting is killing me. I am getting kinda pessimistic because my status has not changed on the website. My interview went alright. I was nervous and I think she kinda picked up on it. Hope I made a good impression though. I am trying not to think about all the reasons why they would not let me in and instead think about all the reasons why they would.......Good luck to anyone else who is still waiting and congrats to those that have already gotten in.
Anyone know if we are able to find out what books we need for the bacc2 program? I was able to find a link to the UTHSC bookstore, however it did not have an online inventory or anything. I wonder if I just need to go up there and write down the ISBN numbers. I'm trying to order them online rather than buy them from the bookstore to save $.
Oh, any current students who want to sell me your books send me a message!
i would say...hold off on that offer. they are constantly changing the editions of the books and because of the houston-galveston split, some books may not be used. we used 50 percent galveston and 50 percent houston so you might be buying textbooks that galveston is using but houston is not. also, you may not need the textbook anyway, depending on the teacher...
on second thought, there are a few books you will need, regardless of where you go:
care plan book
APA style book
medical dictionary
drug guide book (i know hospitals have them but for the first care plan, you will be up all night documenting drugs, so you need a book to reference)
NCLEX review books (the saunders book had questions on my adult theory 3 class)
most study guides are okay but you are usually pressed for time, so you can't invest alot of time in them when you have group objectives due.
I got my acceptance letter from UTHSC for the BACC2 program last week. Just so you know, it HAS to be the interview that really matters. I have an okay GPA (3.7 Prereq, 3.5 Sci), decent NET scores (90th Percentile), and some extra courses (med term, pharmaco, CNA) but no actual health care experience. However, my interview went really well, which was suprising even to me, and I got in.
