  1. This thread was the only thing that gave me hope after my NCLEX RN on June 11. I tried the trick about 20 hours after my test and I couldn't re-register. I was still skeptical, so I didn't post that day. Well I paid for the quick results and saw "pass" so I guess the trick worked for me!
  2. I would just try a hotel that has weekly rates. You should be able to find something for a couple hundred. I think that'll be the most reasonable way to do it.
  3. I just graduated with a BSN from UT Health Science Center Houston. I had a really long commute during school so I'm crossing my fingers to find a position on the north side. Right now I would take just about any position at any pay rate. I've applied to just about every GN internship at every hospital on this side of 610. I haven't had any luck. I'll do med/surg, ICU, L&D, Post Partum, OR, NICU, Pedi, etc. Only thing I really DON'T want is ER. I'll work in Physician offices, private companies, anything. I passed HESI with above recommended score. Taking NCLEX on June 10th. I'm ACLS and BLS certified. I have clinical experience at Memorial Hermann (TMC and Community Branches), St. Luke's, MD Anderson, Psychiatric Facilities, and Nursing Homes. Before nursing school I was CNA certified and had another Bachelor's Degree from Sam Houston. If you have ANY, and i do mean ANY, info that could help me get a job...please, please, please pass it along. School loans are coming in and I need work.
  4. How far North are y'all? I'm in the Woodland's area.
  5. Maybe my FA got looked into because I talked to both the FA advisor and the SON ppl? The scholarship lady @ the SON said emergency tuition loans were only for a few hundred dollars. I'm looking into unsubsidized stafford and the CAL loan; i have 2 of those applications started and will finish them tomorrow when i get my cosigners info. They said its really hectic because its not just the SON that's starting May 19; summer classes for all 6 schools start the same day. Maybe the FA dept is processing stuff in alpha order...i'm pretty close to the front. I have all my immunizations, just need to get the Dr. to sign off on them as well as get my physical. I'm doing the CPR on May 9. Everything else is in or on its way in. I am really worried about the money issue tho...i hope that i can get a loan approved on such short notice. *crosses fingers*
  6. FA deals with all six UT schools in the med center, and let me tell you...they are unorganized, overworked, and not that helpful. I called and talked to someone telling them the reason why i wanted to set up a meeting, etc. and they said all was well and i could come up anytime. I came, to find out as much info as possible, and she saw me for like 3 minutes. She told me that the FAFSA was the only thing i needed to fill out at that point, and that i wouldn't hear from them for a few weeks about any FA i might receive. Well...exactly 4 days later i received a FA letter telling me that even though the FAFSA says that in a perfect world my EFC is 6000 and the cost of the program is 14,000...that i am not eligible for any government sponsored FA. If it were a masters programs, i would be. If nursing school was considered a professional school, like med school or law school, i would be eligible...but since it is just listed as another bachelors degree...i get NOTHING. So now i am scrambling to get info about the unsubsidized stafford loan, fill out the scholarship info on the SON website, and applying for private loans (which suck). Everyone keeps telling me this is "good debt" but i have trouble thinking that any debt is good debt, especially when i already have 30K from the first go around at college. I ended up walking over to the SON and the scholarship director told me more about my FA options than the FA lady did. Then i missed the CPR class because I got strep and was running a 102 fever; so i'll be at the May 9 class (which is cuttin' it close!). Any help ladies and gents? How is the process going for y'all?
  7. Have AIM, etc? I am nervous as hell about gettin' all my stuff together in such a short amount of time. If you'd like to talk, I'd be down. AIM = jerseyjert
  8. Becca, brit, and aggie...i'll be seeing you in May as well! I didn't get my letter until 4-7-08. I'm going down there tomorrow to talk with Fin Aid about my options. Look foward to meeting all 3 of you!
  9. I got my acceptance letter from UTHSC for the BACC2 program last week. Just so you know, it HAS to be the interview that really matters. I have an okay GPA (3.7 Prereq, 3.5 Sci), decent NET scores (90th Percentile), and some extra courses (med term, pharmaco, CNA) but no actual health care experience. However, my interview went really well, which was suprising even to me, and I got in.
