UTA RN-BSN Reviews

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just graduated from University of Texas at Arlington's RN-BSN program. If anyone has any questions about the program, feel free to ask and comment below.

Ah thanks. We are in between exam 2 and 3.

I have my elective already complete - guess that's good. Lol

Hey. I just started NURS 4325: Nursing research and I am having a hard time finding a quantitative article. I feel like I have gone blank on good topic or I find things that are a more medical student topic, instead Of nursing. Any help would be great!!

Hi! Trying to decide between UTA and GCU currently. GCU I only need to take nursing courses which is a huge plus, but it does cost more and I heard the capstone is pretty difficult. As for UTA, Im slightly deterred because I am NOT interested in texas government, sociology classes I might need (still haven't got transcripts evaluated.) It just seems like taking those extra classes would be such a waste of time?

Did you work full time 12 hr shifts during school? How was the workload between school and work? I want to get it done as soon as possible as I can't wait to be over with school! So Im hoping to get it done within a year. Can you double up on nursing classes or would you recommend it?

Also wondering what the capstone was like. Was it difficult to navigate? Did you need a mentor?

Lastly wondering about financial aid with 5 week courses. I have FAFSA money I could use, but how do credits work? Like do you sign up for 2 five week classes per semester to have 6 credits and take one at a time? It seems really confusing how it works.

Thanks for sharing!

I just applied at UTA for Spring 2018 RN to BSN program. After 17 yrs of working in different ER's, I left the ER to pursue my long-term goal of becoming a Psych Nurse Practitioner. I jumped into something new to ensure I go back to school, and scout for preceptors needed for Psych NP school. So any advice is greatly appreciated...

How was the nursing research class? I'm taking it starting in November and would love any tips. Thanks!

Nursing Research was not easy but not hard. It is a time consuming class and I would highly suggest taking it by itself. The course was very strict in their grading BUT if you follow directions and read the grading rubric you will be fine. The course consists of discussion boards, tests/quizzes, and a project.

I hope this is still a current thread. I wanted to see how many papers were assigned in the classes? I hate papers. I think because I have a hard time finding my articles/references. So papers take me a LONG time. I'm just worried I won't be able to finish them in time if there is one per week for example. I want to start in the new year and I just had a baby so I'm also a little worried I won't have the time. I plan to take only one class at a time since I will be busy with a baby for most of the day.

I'm supposed to start UTA's online RN-FNP program February 25th. I sent transcripts over a month ago, and they still have not been evaluated. They also haven't evaluated any of my student loan awards. As a result I haven't paid tuition on the intro courses, yet.

I have a BA in Psychology from UT Austin and an ADN in nursing from Austin Community College. Reputable FNP bridge programs understandably require BSN courses prior to starting master's level work. I'm considering obtaining the BSN portion from another institution.

Did the rest of you have this experience with delays in administrative tasks from UTA? GWU had my transcripts evaluated within two days. I'm not particularly interested in a pass/fail BSN, but the difference in the two schools in terms of communication and task completion is night and day.

I'm currently in NURS 4465 Vulnerable Populations, all I have left is the Capstone. What kind of project is it that needs to be done?

The evaluation of transcript delay is typical for UTA. I had trouble with this with my RN to BSN application. They allowed me (and also many students) to start several intro classes prior to being fully accepted. Unfortunately I do not know how this applies to the FNP program. Since I completed my BSN at UTA with a 3.92 I was instantly accepted for the MSN. program.

It is kinda like a thesis project. You pick a topic, build on it every week, and ultimately end up making a power point project on it. It is something like 9-13 slides and you have to make notes as if you were presenting it.
