Hello Everyone!!
It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?
I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.
I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!
Well the jackets are on the thin side so it won't help much in the Winter. They are good for it you get chilled but thats about it.
Has anyone heard anything about our clinical rotations coming this Fall. I am curious to find out how the increase in COVID19 cases is going to affect us. Supposedly we won't be working with COVID19 patients but from what I can see hospitals, at least in my area, are at capacity due to covid19 patients. Here in south Texas we are expected to peak in August which is when our program officially starts. I wouldnt mind learning how to provide care to COVID19 patients as long as we have PPE.

I havent heard anything, but I assume we should wear our PPE and keep moving....and in case something happens ( God forbids) - we have insurances/ A lot of people were talking how cheap of an insurance they found but the ones UTA sold us are PLATINUM LEVEL - top line. I looked through the BCBS website and saw a lot of insurance - afffordable which looked good in the description about coverage, but were marked SILVER level, BRONZE level....those are not even close to the Platinum level we got through UTA.. I have personal experience with BCBS before buying my own insurance which sounded really good. It was silver level. At the end I spent same money outta my pocket for regular checkups, compared if I didn't have the insurance and get the "uninsured discount" hospitals give you, which is a lot. Last month I went to hospital for removal of foreign object from eye (considered surgical procedure on eye). the ER sent me a bill of $900. a month later when I called to pay it they told me I get 'uninsured discount" and all I had to pay was $250. Cheap is NOT always better and th price UTA gives through BCBS for students is VERY good.
Yes your are absolutely correct. We are fortunate to have such a good health insurance available to us. It does offer peace of mind in case we need it. I pray non of us do. In regards to PPE what have you been able to find other than surgical masks. I have not been able to find any n95 masks since they are reserved for front line responders. However I have been able to get my hands on the KN95 masks which are the chinese version of the N95. I feel it provides better protection than the surgical masks since they are actually respirators instead of masks. Surgical mask just protect the community from you getting them sick where as respirators protect you from airborn droplets.

Hospitals have N95s so I hope they will provide us with them while there. But yeah, a lot of scammers online claim the masks they sell are N95 grade, but ALL of the are complete garbage coming from Chinese small manufactures. Mask that don't meet the criteria to be graded as N95 and not only that but the one that I recently purchased was worse than the surgical masks. Material resembling fishnet, with some piece of cloth where the mouth is supposed t be and barely reaches my nose. A lot of mask scammers alerts online.....
Hello, all!
I was recently pulled from the wait list (yay!). However, I was not anticipating having to get everything done so quickly. Does anyone have recommendations for a CPR class that is hybrid? I am currently working full time, so the less time I have to take off work before school starts, the better. Any input would be helpful.
Thanks!

Check Fragile Heart CPR. They do AHA certified CPR classes. They have hybrid options.

Hey CONGRATS! Do you mind sharing your GPA, of course only if your comfortable. I’m waitlisted and have no idea what it’s looking like for me??

Good question! Hopefully they’ll answer this next week during orientation. I managed to get in on ordering some Clove all black shoes last week. I got an email, and it was a limited number pre-sale promo. But I was wondering the same thing before I found those... would black with white soles be okay? Surely that’s okay though!!

Right! You can wear one if you want. Some girls, especially, tend to freeze all the time. LOL! I won’t need a jacket. If I’m working, I’m usually hot!
