Anyone have any insight on this program? I'm in the process of applying and would love to know about the school!

Anyone currently in the program can tell me how its going for them? Do you like the instructors, clinicals, faculty? If you started this summer, when are you supposed to graduate? Anyone know what the total cost would be fro this program if you are attending from out of state?

I am done with first semester and will be graduating next year August. You will have good instructors and some okay instructors any school you go to. Go to USF website and find information for out of state tuition per credit. We are taking 69 credits for nursing!

Specializes in Peds OR as RN, Peds ENT as NP.

I have one more semester to go. Like Sue said, anywhere you go you can find faults but there are some very knowledgeable nurses here. You might find that your old way of studying might not work anymore.

It is absolutely doable if you just stick with it and keep your eye on the prize (graduation). It is also important not to isolate yourself in the program and get to know some people. They do their best to give you the clinical site you want, except when EVERYBODY chooses Tampa General.

Are you beginning in the Fall or considering applying?

I am considering applying for summer 2012. If I were to start in summer 2012, would i be done in august 2013? Is the program very small? When you mention old way of studying, do you mean studying the day before an exam? Does the program help you succeed if you were interested in starting an NP program right away to do well in the RN portion of the program? Are there any scholarships you all are aware of to look into? Are second degree students eligible for the grad assistantships? Just thinking out-loud right now :) Any recommendations of who to contact in the program regarding any more specific questions i have? i couldn't find that contact information on the website. much thanks for all your help!

Does anybody know if USF let's second degree students apply to their upper division program? It doesn't specify on the website - thanks :)!

I could be mistaken but I heard that the CON was considering changing that policy. The rationale was that there were so many 2nd degree applicants with extremly high GPA's the second degree program was taking to many seats away from upper division applicants. Again, I could be mistaken so I'd check with the CON for confirmation.

Can anyone give me advice on applying to the program? What were your stats like? What was your personal statement like? I'm finishing mine up now and applying for the Summer '12 Accelerated program :)

Specializes in Peds OR as RN, Peds ENT as NP.

godsalways1st, the Nursing Diagnosis handbook is used. I can't tell you whether to sell them or not because your backup school might use it. USF ABSN is very competitive so apply to more than one school.

samiam856, I would check out all 40 pages of this thread as well do a search to find other threads on USF. It will allow you to see what we were going through and some of our stats when we were applying. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me:). My personal statement was a snapshot of who I am now and who I hope to be as a nurse basically. I love reading them so if you need any help as you are writing let me know. Answer the questions in a concise way but make yourself stand out as best you can. They are very important and are read by multiple people since everybody's GPA is high and mostly everyone has healthcare experience.

My GPA was 3.4. I was probably among the lowest GPAs . I was a Nurse Assistant and did a lot of volunteer work.

I'm applying for the USF summer 2012 accelerated program as well. I submitted my application already. I made sure to write about how I became interested in Nursing, my work as a CNA, volunteer work in hospitals, shadowing experiences, leadership as a teacher assistant in college, and hope for further advancement in nursing. I just graduated in December with my bachelor's degree in Biology and minor in chemistry, overall GPA of 3.7. Hopefully this is enough to get me in and hopefully we find out end of March. I wish USF used some sort of entrance test because I had to to take the TEAS for UCF and GRE for UF. I think I did well on them: 92.7% on the TEAS and 166 math 154 reading 4.0 writing on the GRE. Those are the only 3 schools I applied to so I hope I get in somewhere!

I've been researching and found that USF relies heavily on healthcare experience. Either volunteering or working in the field. I have none....my GPA is good but it's no 4.0......I'm skeptical about even finishing my USF application. But then I remember that the worse that happens is they say no. If I don't apply I'll never know. I just accepted and interview at UNF and am still waiting to hear from UF and UCF and Nova.....Hopefully I get in somewhere!

So hopefully we should find out in 3 to 4 weeks about USF's program. :) At least that's what I gathered from what I read.
