University of South Alabama Psychiatric NP program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I have applied to USA's online Psychiatric NP program for Spring 2015. I just wanted to hear from anyone else who has and what their GPA/experience/ ect they have. My GPA is low, but I feel like I have a lot of experience. Any current or former students have any insight as to how many they accept with a lower GPA if any? Does experience really count for anything? Also, has anyone who applied for the Spring 2015 semester heard from USA about their application being complete? Any info would be great, and just to hear from people who are also waiting to hear back.

Thanks

I would have but it was hard to get people together after work to do it. I work two day shift and two evening shifts right now with two days off. My daughter usually works Monday-Friday 8-5 but is busy with three kids, a husband, and they are active in their church. I am waiting on my TB x-ray results to come in from the radiologist and I should be able to send everything in. My daughter has now become interested in becoming a notary so supplement their income. :)

Has anyone received any further updates? I got an email that they received my complete admission packet, but haven't gotten my student ID number or anything like that yet. Also is anyone else on here going to be doing the full time (8 semester) Psych BSN-DNP?

I received a letter in the mail Friday with directions to set up/activate my Jag mail account but that's it. I'm still waiting on the curriculum schedule.

Kennybania,

when did you send in your acceptance packet? They received mine at the beginning of last week. Just wondering how long it took for you to get your letter once you sent in your materials. Thanks!

I believe that I sent it in around the 10th of October. I received an email on 10/15 stating that the acceptance packet was complete.

When you mailed your acceptance packet did anyone send it certified or just through regular mail?

Hello, Congrats on your acceptance! I am looking into applying for Fall 2015 (April 1 deadline). The problem I am having is the fact that I have no psych experience. I'm planning to join the military afterwards. Has anyone heard of people getting accepted without any experience?

Planning on doing the DNP-Psych program in Fall.. Looking to hear about he schools.. Reviews are all over the place great to awful.

i wonder how many week each course MSN ?

So Nursingcas Lowered my GPA. I had a replacement grade in statistics and they included both grades. This is what lowered it. I'm so irritated. Does anyone know how university of south alabama calculates their GPA? It's still above 3.0 but good lord it dropped 2 whole points.

I have no formal inpatient psych experience but have 15 years of ED psych/crisis experience. Not sure how far this will get me.

I've also applied for Fall '15 entrance, and am still waiting to hear on acceptance. I have 3.82 GPA, scored in 99th percentile on MAT (which wasn't required by USA, but I put it in CAS anyway,) so I feel like I have an academically strong application.

However, I emailed the program last fall and asked about the experience requirment, and was told if I didn't have formal psych experience, and my application was otherwise attractive to them, I would be required to take extra course work to compensate for the lack of in patient psych experience.

On the other hand, changes are made to curriculum for all sort of reasons, in any direction.

Keeping fingers crossed for changes in my favor and acceptance.

Will post when I hear from school.

St, Somewhere BSN, RN, I applied for the Post Masters Family Psych NP program. Nursing CAS adjusted my GPA as well, but it is above the requirement. I have been anxiously waiting too! I live in the Athens, Ohio area and just heard that Ohio University is working on curriculum at this time for an online psych np program to hopefully start next year. No other details, but it will be my back up plan. I called USA two weeks ago and was told the letters would be going out in a "couple of weeks." Best of luck to you, and I will be watching for your post!
