University of South Alabama NP Spring 2015
Was it an actual acceptance email? Or an email telling you to look for a letter in the mail? Curious...

I'm not sure how the messaging feature of the site works, and need to look more closely, but yeah, would definitely like to keep in touch, share info.

University of South Alabama Adult NP Fall 2015
I've been pouring through the various U of SA boards and posts and it seems like it is their custom to take 2 or more months to make final decisions. Someone also posted (on another allnurses topic) that this school receives over 900 applicants for its NP program. No idea whether this is per-specialty-track or overall, but it sounds like a lot. I applied to the PMHNP track, for Fall '15. I just heard from them (in response to an anxious, whiny email I sent the committee,) that they'll be sending letters in 2 weeks. For what it's worth...

An update of sorts... I emailed U of SA for the second time since April 1, to ask about the status of things. To their credit, they do reply- I heard from them today via email. They replied that the decision-making is taking longer than anticipated, and hopefully they will be sending out letters within...yep, the next 2 weeks. The suspense is killing me. I've already decided if I don't get in, I'll redouble my efforts, address whatever application deficiencies they may cite, and re-apply for Spring '16. But I really want/need to get in for Fall '15 Or maybe I'll sit down, shut up and go forward with EKU...(my back up plan.) Keeping fingers crossed for all of us! Keep me posted on what you hear...

University of South Alabama PMHNP
I have no feedback, except I too applied to the PMHNP program at Univ of So Alabama, for Fall of 2015. I'm wondering if anyone else who applied has heard yet about their application status. I also applied to EKU's program, and got accepted, but I have heard nothing from Univ of So Alabama yet, and I met the April 1 deadline. The UofSA program is my first choice, because of the timeline. The Nursing CAS application process has been less than comforting- I logged into check and somewhere on the site it says they haven't received one of my transcripts (!?!?!?) I sent another via the old school and paid $40 for rush service. But I have to say...that I am only learning of this problem at this late date is crazy-making. I've emailed the school twice over the last 2.5 mos. To their credit, they do reply and explain the decisions are taking longer than planned. I take solace in their not just sending me a "Declined" letter to shut me up But I'm anxious to know so I can make plans... Good luck to you, and share your experience, if you will!

Vickster1, Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm able to take the whole wait a little less personally, for a minute or two. But it's still pretty frustrating. I've already been accepted to Eastern KY University, and postponed enrollment until August, for reasons around financial aid, but also because I'm trying to see if I get in at Univ of So Alabama. The EKU program takes 3 full years to complete, which might not be so bad, if I were in my twenties. It appears the completion time for U of SA is less. Also, I know NP's who graduated from U of SA and they were happy with the program and and have great jobs. Best of luck to you as well! Definitely post when you hear word- I will as well :)

I have no formal inpatient psych experience but have 15 years of ED psych/crisis experience. Not sure how far this will get me. I've also applied for Fall '15 entrance, and am still waiting to hear on acceptance. I have 3.82 GPA, scored in 99th percentile on MAT (which wasn't required by USA, but I put it in CAS anyway,) so I feel like I have an academically strong application. However, I emailed the program last fall and asked about the experience requirment, and was told if I didn't have formal psych experience, and my application was otherwise attractive to them, I would be required to take extra course work to compensate for the lack of in patient psych experience. On the other hand, changes are made to curriculum for all sort of reasons, in any direction. Keeping fingers crossed for changes in my favor and acceptance. Will post when I hear from school.

Thanks for your candor Denise0612. I'm shopping for best-fit PMHNP online program, and there's not a lot out there on USA.
