Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

I just found this thread as I'm impatient and searching for all the info I can! I got the email on the 12th saying I got into the MSN NNP program! Im so excited but also patiently (kinda) waiting for more information! I just want something more official then the generic email! Excited to see what fall brings!

Hello does anyone here know approximately how many years it takes to complete the program for both the BSN to MSN and the BSN to DNP? And also what year does clinical typically start? I applied for the BSN to DNP FNP track for Fall 2021 but just wanted to get an idea of how long the program is. Thank you everyone!

Hello all!  How does everyone plan on working during school.  I am in the BSN - DNP FNP program and am trying to figure out what working will look like.

For adult acute care it is 2.5 years or 7 semester for BSN to MSN. The DNP classes are the exact same to that point you just continue on after the MSN is completed another 1.5 years or 4 semesters additional. The DNP is 36 credits but the MSN includes 12 credits of DNP level classes so tou only add 24 more at the end. During the 2.5 year MSN portion the first 4 semester are didactic and then 3 semesters of clinicals.

Has anyone heard anything else, such as when the online orientation will be? I had a trip planned in September I'm now trying to reschedule. We had planned it before I applied to grad school. Hoping to reschedule for the Summer before all of this starts. I'm also going to be working full time, school full time... and my kiddo will be 5 when the program starts. We can do it!!

Nothing as yet. I do plan on working fulltime during the didactic phase since fulltime is considered 6 credits.

What's the link for the facebook group?

I haven't seen the facebook page made yet. I plan on making it after someone gets an official letter but I didn't want to make it until officially acceptance letters had gone out. If someone beats me to it, all good hut I figured it would be a bunch of people with questions and no answers until they send out packets and update the school site. No new information has been released and I doubt they will until they decide on the next wave of applicants so I've been trying not to worry about it until after the first week of April since they extended the deadline until the first. I also plan on working full time nights in the ICU the first year. I've already talked to my manager about dropping a shift and then possibly a second every 2 weeks after clinicals start but not yet. I do plan on being full time enrolled but minimally full time LOL so I'm planning on my DNP taking at least 5 years considering I want to add 2 sub-specialties during that time.

Got it!

Yeah, I'm looking at 4 years minimum for the BSN-DNP...I've been eyeing the cardiovascular subspecialty but I don't know how useful it'll be in the short term since I do not plan on working in a cards office.

I'm also looking at working the weekends while in the program and do classes/clinicals M-Th.

If it comes to the nitty gritty I might end up on night weekends too. We're so short in the ICU since we lost the last wave from covid exhaustion that they can't justify cutting my hours now. If they don't get the positions filled I'll have to work full time weekends  and I don't handle day shift in the hospital very well so it would end up being nights. The switch back and forth between nights and days every single weekend sucked the first time I went to college, I'm sure it's going to suck even more being 10 years older ???

I work mid-shift and it's tolerable. I don't do well on days but I appreciate going home at a reasonable time.

I'm at that point where I want to leave as well but cherish the experience and autonomy too much.

Hi all, I was just wondering, how long did it take for you all to hear back after applying?

I know that they extended the deadline for the applications, but I've been following this thread and noticed people were getting their acceptance emails.

On an email I received, they stated we would receive something by mail two weeks after the application deadline.

I applied to the MSN PNP program for this fall.

I think those who applied really early got accepted in the first "wave" and then they are going to do another wave of acceptance emails later on. I don't know when that will be though since they extended the deadline. I applied in January for the PNP program and got my acceptance email a couple weeks ago.
