Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

Hello everyone! I’ve been watching this page for awhile!  Congratulations to everyone who have been accepted. I just received my acceptance email yesterday too. I’ll be in the fall 2021 MSN-PNP. I’m still waiting to hear back from a couple other schools before making my choice! But hope to connect with you all if I decided to attend USA.

We will be in the same class then! So you are a Nicu RN going PNP as well it looks like? I'm hoping it's not a huge jump to go from nicu to peds. Congratulations on your acceptance!

I’ve been a Nicu RN for the last 2 years with the rest of my experience in peds. I miss pediatric nursing so much!  Congratulations to you too!! We should keep in touch!

I received an email Friday that I was accepted; Fall 2021 DNP AGACNP program. I did DNP because I emailed and they told me the MSN and DNP curriculums are the same pre-licensure; DNP students just continue on without having to reapply (and applying was a giant PAIN!) so I didn't wanna have to go through that again. I was going to apply to dual program (FNP/ACNP) but decided just to do acute care as I was informed that finding my own FNP clinical sites would be way harder (drive farther away LOL) than acute care clinicals, so I only applied acute care NP. Hopefully I have enough connections at my level 1 to not make this too huge of a pain in the butt. I'm in NC, at UNC Chapel Hill. I have been in CTICU for 3 years, have CCRN obviously, was in surgical trauma step-down for 5 plus years before that.

Congratulations! Did you apply anywhere else that you've heard back from? Best wishes in your program!

Do our classes start 8/17 with everyone else? Also does anyone know of anything on campus we need to do before then?

we had a trip planned for September with my son so I’m trying to reschedule

I have no idea. I do know there are mandatory clinical stimulation lab days/orientation for July and/or August depending on specialty

So far I've still only received the initial acceptance email, I'm assuming (which I hate doing) that once they've sent out our official admittance papers we'll find out more about when classes start and how to enroll prior. But I know before that even happens we are expected to get through a background check, drug screen, and provide our vaccination records. There is the mandatory online orientation which they may already have dates posted for somewhere on the JAG site but I haven't attempted to locate the information yet.

Tiff, I'm pretty sure that simulation lab stuff is July/August of next year prior to our first clinical placement. I'm willing to bet the initial mandatory online orientation will be July/August as well though. I'll do some site digging tonight while I'm trying to switch back to night shift and I'll share whatever I find with the group ?

Oh jeez ! I had it all screwed up. Thats why these blogs/post are so helpful. I am happy to hear that. I thought clinicals would be starting immediately. I hope next year for the sake of finding preceptors.

Oh I hear you. Too many dates and not enough context yet since we only have half the information. But it will definitely not be until NEXT Summer that you'll need to worry about a trip to campus. I'm on high alert about that information since I have to fly from Washington state down to Alabama for the first time in my life. ??? For sure be watching for the date on the online mandatory orientation THIS Summer because from what I've seen in multiple different threads, that is an all day event, is absolutely mandatory, and they don't do make ups (from what I've seen)

Trying to figure out how the facebook group for out cohort works because if it's started by just any student, I want to get that going.

Yes, that will be great ! I believe it is, but I could be wrong. I remember reading a post where someone stated they created one for a previous cohort.
