Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

Everyone else will be reviewed after the second deadline April first and I imagine they would send out preliminary emails about 2 weeks after that deadline like they did with the first wave. When was your supplemental application submitted?
Is this information you got directly from the university? I submitted my supplemental application on February 18 but haven’t received an acceptance or a rejection letter. When I reached out to the admissions team they just said “we only communicated with wave 1 so far” so I was holding out hope that I’m in wave 2. Ugh..... I think I’m gonna have to pay big bucks to go to Marquette instead. ?

So pretty much what she told me was my GPA is lower than some of the applicants and instead of them just denying me she wanted to see if there was a way I would instead be interested in applying for a specialty track. So since I work peds she’s transferring my app from FNP to Pediatric NP. I’m gonna be put in the second group so I won’t know if I get in now until middle of April. Good luck to all of y’all! I’m thinking since y’all didn’t get a call that may mean accepted!
So this is where we know about the second wave. Victoria applied in time but because they changed her application to a different program, she was moved to the second group.

Ugh... that really stinks. I honestly don't know what I could possibly do to improve my chances of getting in at this point. I teach undergraduate nursing while also working in a nurse run sexual health clinic. And my GPA is pretty almost perfect. This makes me want to cry... If I knew my application was lacking in some respect I would totally get it, but I'm probably going to just have to find a different program even though this one was the dream.
Good luck to all of you who have been accepted! You're all going to make waves in the nursing profession!
So I'm going to throw this one out there. I don't know for sure how post grad certifications are being handled. I hope someone else will pipe in if I'm absolutely wrong, which I could be since I'm switching back to days and slightly sleep deprived right now so combing through all these pages I could have missed something, but I don't know for sure if I've seen many people in this thread who already have their MSN, congratulations btw, who have heard back about MSN to DNP let alone about certifications. I don't want to give false hope if I'm wrong but maybe there's the slightest chance they don't send out preliminary emails for post grad certifications? In which case there won't be official news until mid to late April.
The other thing is I don't see application requirements for that program and from the sounds of it, with a good GPA and a decent admission essay, I don't understand what you would be lacking either since it seems you're already in the correct specialty for experience. The only other thing I would suggest is reaching out to the email listed under the certification course explanation and ask what type of work experience they look for in their applicants?
I know the anxiety of the fear so I'm so sorry yours is prolonged. I wish you the best in your studies, wherever they occur.
Okay everyone, since official stuff is happening I started the facebook page in the hopes that we can gather and socialize with other students who are not on the allnurses site.
USA BSN-DNP/MSN Fall 2021 Cohort
https://www.facebook.com/groups/578307179795203
The group is set to private but is visible publicly so anyone can find it. There are questions to answer before being accepted but it is information that anyone who has applied for the program should be able to answer. If anyone has been receiving updates from someone other than Jennifer, can you please let me know so I can change that question? The point of questions is to keep bots out of the group. I've already seen a couple in the dual role group I joined that post about study programs they want you to pay for by telling the same story, "I failed 'xyz' twice before I used 'abc' to help me study and finally passed on the third try"
I checked around and it really does look like all these groups are student-run so I hope to help get this group going so we can all achieve our goals together.

I'm going to hop offline and run some errands but to the person with initials T.S I sent you a facebook message. Please make sure you agree to the group rules so we can add you to the group because I'd like to make a few people from this site moderators so we can all help get people added ?
