University of South Alabama DNP Fall 2021

Published

Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to USA for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey. Also, I am currently based in FL, anyone else from out of state care to share their experiences with this program being online and all? How was it finding a clinical site and preceptor?

Specializes in NICU, PICU, CCRN.

Hey everyone! Does anyone have any insight on the program of study for the program? Is the timeline of the program different if we decide to do full time or part time? When do we start clinical and such?

Specializes in Telemetry/ACU then ICU.

Still waiting for the hard copy of the acceptance packet for final clarification on that information unfortunately ? I know that when I first started applying and was asking Jen questions about full time vs part time she said they could make a schedule to fit any needs but if you start part time they can't push you to full time status, but if you start full time, they can ease you into it before you have a full time schedule. So I think timelines are dependent on the person and each specialty requirements. As far as clinicals, as long as you finish the required classes in the first year, everyone should start clinicals a year after their start date. So for us it would be fall 2022. Hope that helps a little

I had just wanted to know if you have to start doing clinical 1 year exactly after we start the program, or if this timeline could be pushed back further (by being part-time) until we are ready to start the clinical portion of the program. I just started traveling as a NICU nurse, and I know that I would have to take a staff job eventually if I need to find my own clinical site for the program.

Oh gotcha. My recommendation would be to ask Jennifer or whoever your contact has been with the school since she's the one who was answering scheduling questions for me. She'd be able to give you more clear answers for your scenario ?

Are you all referring to the Google doc that we filled out?  I filled this out and am currently working through Castle Branch.  Was there another acceptance form I needed to fill out?

LOL now I'm worried I missed something. What was the Google Doc? I haven't done anything except what's been required in castlebranch and I'm still a few requirements away from done on that. I was speaking about the link to the acceptance packet in the email and I think she found that as well

That is it!  Click on Step 1 and that will bring you to the link for Fall 2021 and you fill out that long form.  I believe that form is a Google doc.  Is there another form we fill out?

Ohhhhh! I did fill it out LOL. I just didn't realize it was a Google Doc LOL
