University of San Francisco Summer 2014 MSN CNL for non-nurses

Published

Hello everyone,

This thread is for the University of San Francisco Masters in Clinical Nurse Leader Program for non-nurses (Summer 2014 cohort) I didn't see one so I decided to make one. Anyone else applying?

Has anyone had any recent contact with admissions regarding the status of the decisions?

We've hit the 6 week mark so hopefully they run true to their 6-8 week response time (with this cohort). Anyone know how they notify you? Email, phone, mail?

In the past acceptances have been phone calls and waitlist and rejections have come via snail mail.

I gave in this morning and called and they said a couple more weeks.

It is true that they have traditionally called their acceptances (a "(415) 422-xxxx" number). I know, that makes the process that much more stressful because you don't know if they haven't called yet because: you didn't get in...or if they just haven't gotten to your phone call yet. Further, they don't call everyone at once, For cohort 17 (spring 2014): a) some people announced on Allnurses that they allegedly received a letter of acceptance in the snail-mail over Thanksgiving break (but no phone call), yet b) SEVERAL (most of the cohort, in fact) people announced on Allnurses they got a phone call almost 3 weeks later, but c) a couple more phone calls went out even 3 weeks after that, only days before orientation.

My point is, I would not recommend reading this Allnurses forum for the next few weeks because there is NO rhyme or reason to figuring out if you are getting in or not. Reading this forum will only stress you out further. I know the wait is utterly agonizing and terribly stressful. Just remember, regardless of the decision, in a few years from now, you'll be an RN either way (from USF or somewhere else)...it will happen if you really want and work hard for it.

Also, if you want to get ahead of the game...just in case you do get in: There's a whole list of health requirements to get checked-off (Ie. titers, vacs, etc etc) before you can begin your clinical work in a hospital (hospital policies) for ANY nursing program that you may enter. I'd recommend searching your potential programs and finding out the info you need regarding "Health Requirements" for clinicals. For instance, USF's is the "Health Requirements" is School of Nursing and Health Professions Health Requirements - University of San Francisco (USF) Again, this was a lot of work that was time consuming (titers and blood draws MUST be completed--proof of immunization for some items are NOT acceptable; this stuff is hospital policy...not USF's rules).

Anyway, that's just little stuff if you get in.....maybe don't waste the time/money on that if you don't think it's worth it just yet...but it is something to consider.

Otherwise, good luck to all....try not to read this forum too much (ha ha, easier said than done), but remember you have made it this far and will make it sooner or later if you just keep your chin up and, um, "keep calm and carry on."

The semester is pretty crazy right now so I won't be back on this forum very much, but don't read too much into that either. Breathe. :)

I was out of town last week and I was really hoping to come home to good news, or receive a phone call while I was gone. Unfortunately still waiting :(

A couple more weeks seems like so long! I was thinking it would be beginning of April. Like, today or tomorrow, haha.

Thank you @ksfiles, reading your post was very enlightening. It is something we all need to hear/read at this point of the wait.

We've hit the 6 week mark so hopefully they run true to their 6-8 week response time (with this cohort). Anyone know how they notify you? Email, phone, mail?

They notify you by email, by letter and sometimes by phone call. For spring 2014 i was notified by letter and then was told to check my status online which basically said your waitlisted, then an email cam and said sorry there was not enough room for all the qualified candidates. Its really all up in the air. But dont count on your status online, thats the last thing they update.

also make sure you have applied for fin aid 2013-14 and 14-15

Based on previous cohorts, it looks like we can be waiting all the way up to May :dead:...But I'd still be curious to know if any one of you get accepted early

Hey everyone! I also applied to the Summer 2014 cohort. I was wondering if anyone's status on the online application says anything other than "submitted."

Mine still says submitted as well.
