University of San Francisco Summer 2014 MSN CNL for non-nurses

Published

Hello everyone,

This thread is for the University of San Francisco Masters in Clinical Nurse Leader Program for non-nurses (Summer 2014 cohort) I didn't see one so I decided to make one. Anyone else applying?

I'm nervous. Calls went out a year ago tomorrow and finished going out by the end of April.

Mine just says submitted also. Let's hope we hear some good news today!

@rnbound2014: I'm sorry for your news. You post made me log in out of curiosity and my heart was pounding, but mine still says submitted. I'm surprised that you have a decision online before (seemingly) anyone has received any news from the school, I was under the impression that the online application was the last thing to be updated (which still hasn't stopped me from logging in and checking every day lol).

I hope calls start today, that would be nice. I'm still in the "no news is good news" mindset but at the same time I just want to know!

Thank you all for your responses. Totally bummed, but will apply again. I am just scratching my head trying to figure out how I can make my application different the second time. Obviously I can't change my gpa (which is above the 3.00 but below a 3.5, it can't be the references, because then I wouldn't have chosen them : ), I volunteer at LPCH, soooo should I assume my personal statement might need some work? I am sure it was very competitive and perhaps I just got squeezed out.

Those of you who have applied for the second time, can you post and let me (us) know how you did (if you'd like to share).

I am excited for all of you, I feel like the mother hen waiting for her baby birds to take off (as I am probably the oldest person applying!) Good luck my little chicks!

I can't say much since I'm a first time applicant and I don't know whether I got in or not, but I have scoured the threads from previous cohorts and it seems like they emphasized the personal statement and references the most. From what I have heard, it is very helpful to attend an info session (which I did not) as they tell you exactly what they look for in the personal statement. I have also seen that they want to see why you want to be a nurse specifically and what qualities you can bring to the school and the nursing profession.

I have also seen that, while it is tempting to compare ourselves, it's really not a good idea. Since it is so competitive, and since they emphasize the personal statement the most, there seems to be no guarantee even if you have stellar grades and references and experiences. I wish I could get into the heads of the admissions people and see what they are thinking, because until I hear back I still have no idea what to expect.

Thank you for wishing your little chicks luck, we will need it!

@rnbound2014 I'm sorry to hear about your news.

My application online says "Submitted" It then says the submission date and time.

Then underneath it says "Application Complete- To Be Reviewed After Deadline.

Then it says what date my application was completed (I think this was in response to making sure all my re-requisites fit and that my GPA was above the requirement).

Does everyone else's look similar to this?

Make sure to take your phone off of vibrate and turn the ringer up every one! =)

I just found out that I was not admitted. Good luck to everyone else.

So sorry to hear that, Jennnnn. Just wondering how you found out. Was there a link to their decision once you logged in to your application?

okay, now I am worried. My application status still says "submitted and being reviewed" I haven't gotten a phone call or an email or anything. Are they updating the system today? When I called them last week they said they wouldn't be making phone calls, it would all be through snail mail. But now that doesn't seem to be true...hopefully I hear good news soon. Any news would be helpful at thsi point, stressing out.

Yes it says "decided" online where it previously said submitted and there was then a link to a letter that said I was not admitted.

Ugh this is driving me insane. Looks like no one has been notified of being accepted yet it seems?

I know, I'm going crazy, and I'm probably driving everyone else crazy by talking about it. So they're not making calls for acceptances? I guess they'll update everyone's status online eventually then? I got the mail today and hoped for a letter but there was nothing.
