University of San Francisco Fall 2015 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...

I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:

*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.

*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)

* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.

*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)

Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.

(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)

Good luck to everyone!!

Yup! To be honest I can't remember the color, I want to say white, but I know for sure it was a big envelope. Hard to miss, it has the logo on the outside! Inside had my acceptance letter, a few miscellaneous sheets, one was the intent to enroll form. Then, just a mini packet about the school. So don't be freaked out if it's not too thick!

Omg that is so funny it said that!! I'm definitely going to be looking for that!

Did your application online change at all after you were accepted?

No the online application never actually changed. After it said it received everything it never changed again.

I haven't heard anything either... I'm extremely nervous because I found out that they won't honor substandard repeated grades; meaning that they factor in everything. I was in college before I joined the army and I thought I dropped all of the classes before I went into basic training. When I came home for leave, I found that I got F's in all of those classes. (this was 7 years ago) :-(... Anyways, I've been getting good grades ever since I started going back to school. Good luck to you all!!! I'll let you guys know the second I get a notification of any kind :-) (whether if its a acceptance or rejection letter)

@ Champ4 - thanks for all the info and congratulations!!!!! :-)

Are you sure they don't forgive grades that are that old? Are they pre reqs or where they just general Ed?

There's also a section on the common app for explaining stuff like this! That could help.

You can explain that you only got Fs because you went into the army.

Its just general ed stuff... I guess I was exaggerating over the extremely nervous part because im not... just a little anxious to see if I get accepted :-)

Yeah, I looked on the common app last year and some of that stuff was helpful. However, it varies between schools and their grade policies. (Especially private schools like USF) I wasn't looking for any info in particular; I was just venting, lol.

I understand! No worries :) yeah, I couldn't have been much help anyway. Being a high school senior I don't know much about the whole substandard repeated classes stuff.
