University of San Francisco Fall 2015 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...

I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:

*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.

*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)

* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.

*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)

Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.

(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)

Good luck to everyone!!

Hi Guys,

Are any of you transfer applicants. Do you know by when we will get the decision . So tensed.

I'm not a transfer, but from what they've been saying, I think early march

Oh man. Waiting game it is  The transfer counselor told me it might me late march so not very sure. Felt really good to know about this group though :). By the way congrats Champs!!. I just read all the old mes now lol.

Thank you so much! It was super exciting!

Damn, late march. I know how awful that is waiting! Every day counts! Waiting is the worst!!

Late March?! Did you speak to the nursing transfer counselor?

ALSO, I was reading this transfer info on their website..."Acceptance as a transfer student in the School of Nursing and Health Professions is based on academic achievement, available clinical placement, and individual advising. "

Individual advising? Does anyone know what this means exactly? Do they do interviews?

Maybe letters of rec? No interviews I'm pretty sure

Hi Student 293, I do not know if he is a nursing transfer counselor. His name is Mark something:( Yeah the site says admission decisions in 4-6 weeks which is soon approaching. I agree individual advising must be letter of rec.

Have you spoken to any nursing transfer counselor about the decisions?

Best

Also guys what does your application summary state. Mine only says the requirements received by the univ and the date received . No status mentioned .

No worries! Mine never had anything in the status section. Just received.

Hey appyza,

I haven't spoken to the nursing transfer counselor. Although, there is one listed on their website as the person who looks over nursing transfer apps. I figured we would hear back the first 2 weeks of March. I might give the admissions office a call this week and ask them when we should be hearing back.

By the way did anyone else turn in more than one letter of recommendation?

Thanks for the info :). someone in another thread - official USF acceptance- said that he received an email from the university saying that the decision was made and he should schedule a visit to the university. :sneaky: Transfer applicant getting the decision quite early. I just sent one letter of rec.

What??? Already? Now I'm nervous
