Hello everyone!
I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...
I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:
*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.
*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)
* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.
*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)
Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.
(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)
Good luck to everyone!!
Late March?! Did you speak to the nursing transfer counselor?
ALSO, I was reading this transfer info on their website..."Acceptance as a transfer student in the School of Nursing and Health Professions is based on academic achievement, available clinical placement, and individual advising. "
Individual advising? Does anyone know what this means exactly? Do they do interviews?
Hi Student 293, I do not know if he is a nursing transfer counselor. His name is Mark something:( Yeah the site says admission decisions in 4-6 weeks which is soon approaching. I agree individual advising must be letter of rec.
Have you spoken to any nursing transfer counselor about the decisions?
Best
Hey appyza,
I haven't spoken to the nursing transfer counselor. Although, there is one listed on their website as the person who looks over nursing transfer apps. I figured we would hear back the first 2 weeks of March. I might give the admissions office a call this week and ask them when we should be hearing back.
By the way did anyone else turn in more than one letter of recommendation?
Thanks for the info :). someone in another thread - official USF acceptance- said that he received an email from the university saying that the decision was made and he should schedule a visit to the university. Transfer applicant getting the decision quite early. I just sent one letter of rec.
