Hello everyone!
I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...
I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:
*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.
*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)
* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.
*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)
Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.
(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)
Good luck to everyone!!
KpK333, they might be waiting to see who else is applying or turning them down and then decide. I know they have another info session on July 7th or July 8th. Don't lose hope yet until the starting of the semester. Didn't someone just got her acceptance letter just a few day ago for San Francisco Campus?
Greetings CURRENT USF BSN class, I was recently accepted into the Summer MSN CNL 2016 program. I know everyone here is 1 or more semester ahead of me, but I was wondering if anyone is looking for a potential room mate? I'm not sure what your individual living situation is but if you have a chance please hit me up. That would be a lot of help and maybe a big help to you too! Good luck in your next semester everyone. Cheers
@Christina if you have a chance, look at the courses they will accept as transfer and finish them prior to entering the program. USFCA doesn't like to allow students to take classes at outside universities after you start the program. Specifically philosophy, ethics, and theology are ones to look into doing before transfer.
@Christina. USFCA doesn't like to allow students to take classes at outside universities after you start the program.
I couldn't agree more about taking the USF prereqs before entering USFCA.
Correction to the above info. USFCA DOES NOT let you take philosophy, ethics or theology at any other school once accepted. You CAN take any other non-nursing courses at community college over the summer (just not your last 30 units since you need to fulfill the residency requirement)
I think we're saying the same point. Get those classes done before starting! I was able to transfer philosophy from my JC from over the summer prior to starting the program, but I had to be very very persistent with the transfer advisor. They seemed to be willing to accommodate some requests, but I wouldn't assume USFCA will do the same for you unless you discuss it ahead of time.
@futurenorcalnurse are we instilling nursing student neuroticism too early? í ½í¸†
