University of San Francisco BSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. California

Hello!

I know it's still early on in the game but I was wondering if anyone applied for USFs BSN program for spring 14? I just applied. IF so, do you mind sharing your GPA, Volunteer/Work experience? :)

@FT4 Yeah, someone posted the essay prompt from the USF website onto here and I realized that the CommonApp essay prompt is different. I got an email from the Senior Admission Counselor two days ago, but he was just verifying which term I wanted to apply for, so I'm guessing I did it correctly. I'll most likely email him again. Thanks!

@Chesrose Yeah, I am sure that I followed the directions correctly and worked on the essay prompt to the best of my ability. However, I was surprised that there was no supplement because I actually thought about applying out of high school and I noticed that the essay prompt from the USF website this year was the supplement on the CommonApp last year for USF. Thanks!

Best of luck to everyone!

Hey everyone, I too applied for the Spring 2014. I am a veteran, medic specifically, 3.2 GPA, specialized in surgery. I don't know if I will get in, but wish everyone the best.

Does anyone know if we'd be starting clinicals this Spring (that's if we get in...)? Because I was told when I applied for Fall 2013 that clinicals wouldn't start until Spring 2014. But I'm wondering if its the same for those starting in Spring 2014 if they have to wait another semester before clinicals to start or if that cohort would have their clinicals at the beginning of the program

I attended a transfer seminar. If Im not mistaken, we would have to take a semester or two of intro to nursing classes before any clinical training can start. So they would mostly be at the end part of nursing school. I heard somewhere that USF clinical students get really good clinical training. I don't know if that was in comparison to other schools, or if USF students get some kind of priority during clinical training. Does anyone know where they send their students for clinicals?

I graduated USF in DEC 2011 so hopefully I can help you with some of your questions. I applied to USF for spring '09 and I found out I got into the nursing program at the beginning of Dec 2008. My letter said I was not be starting clinicals under spring '10 (yes a whole year). This might happen for you. I was a lucky student and actually had a spot open up for me spring '09.

As for clinicals, there is so many things for you to do. They changed the program around since I graduated but I did two semesters in med surg, one in maternity and PEDs, one is psychiatric and home health and my last was my preceptorship which i choose labor and delivery. Clinical sites are all over the bay area. Most clinical sites were very open to USF students.

If you have any questions, feel free to answer or message me.

@ssaarraahh , how's the job market for getting a job right after graduation? I'm not sure if the prestige of USF's nursing program will help with jobs.

Also, did anyone receive an e-mail about checking their admissions status online?

Nope I didn't received any email, did you? Btw, did you get into the other schools that you applied to?

Yes I received that email as well. It doesn't say anything about my application status besides my basic info and when they received my required documents.

@FTF4 i've talked to nurses at Stanford, and they said that they love hiring USF graduates because they have a good relationship. It'll be easier by the time we graduate, since the wave will hit us when there will be jobs opening from people retiring and etc. As long as were volunteering, it'll be easier to get a job.

I talked to a counselor from USF because she was doing a campus visit, and she said the online application status check doesn't really get utilized for finding out if we're admitted.

She said that we'll receive an email first and then get a follow up letter.

It's taking sooo long.

Hey everyone,

I did not receive any email about our basic information and when they received our documents. Has anyone applied through the common app? I've been trying to "Check my application Status" on the USF website but i dont recall receiving a student ID # or a login ID. I am so confuse now. I also applied for Spring 2014 as well.

Karentran I applied through the common app and they emailed me today randomly with a username/passord. Call the admissions office and they will give you that information to log in.

I received an email today from them too, giving me an ID number and password. Like what someone else said, it just tells us when they received our documents. But it did change from being application in "progress" to reviewed application. So, I'm guessing our applications have been reviewed...and we should be hearing back soon?
