University of San Francisco BSN Fall 2021

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a forum for USF FALL 2021 BSN yet, so I decided to make one so everyone can ask questions, encourage one another, and share stats!

I'm applying with:

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall: 3.91

Volunteer w/ letter of confirmation: 100+ hours

I'm not sure if they look into this, but:

- Bilingual

Good luck everyone! Feel free to comment below!

Hi! First off, congrats to everyone who got in/waitlisted! I was wondering for those who got deferred to Spring would you mind sharing your stats? Also do we have to have the core class done in order to apply or can we take it when we start?

I think if you have a majority of them done, you will get deferred to Spring! I've taken extra classes because this is my second year of applying to nursing schools.

I shared my stats a bit earlier in this thread, but here's a smaller version:

Overall GPA: 3.66

Science GPA: 3.5

Bilingual

No letters of rec

200+ volunteer hours

Wrote my essay about becoming a professor

This is my third time applying. I'm done with almost all of the core classes, except 2 classes (Theology and Cultural Diversity).

Over all GPA 3.67

Prerequisites GPA 3.2 (Science GPA 3.0)

3 letters of recommendation

200+ hours of volunteer

CNA

Bilingual

AA degree

I never think that I could get accepted with such low stats, but you guys, never lose hopes!

Can you post a screenshot of the email you got?

If you don't mind, what were your stats?

And CONGRATULATIONS!!

thank you! ♥️

  • Science GPA: definitely not the greatest - 3.32
  • Overall GPA: 3.78
  • 1 AA degree with honors
  • Three outstanding courses, which I’m currently taking this semester (philosophy, ethics, and literature)
  • Not bilingual
  • Did not submit any letters of recommendation
  • Volunteer experience: none in healthcare. I volunteered feeding the homeless throughout high school and for a non-profit organization that focused on tutoring refugee students and helping them rebuild their lives.
  • Work experience: I got my phlebotomy certification at the end of 2017, was licensed by the state in 2018, and have been working as a phlebotomist since 2019—currently at a VA Hospital in SoCal.
  • I didn’t send in any verification for work or volunteer hours because the assistant director told me it wasn’t necessary—I just talked about my experiences in my essays.

thanks so much! I'm planning on applying for Spring so should I take the core classes during the Summer/fall in order to not get deferred?

I believe you will only be deferred if you apply for fall and have lots of classes done already. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

I just got accepted for Spring 2022! I was rejected as a high school senior and USF's BSN was the only program I applied to as a transfer! Good luck to everyone else, have faith, and keep working hard. Things will fall into place.

You are correct! I got deferred because I have classes like philosophy already completed, among others that they have 1st semester students take.

When did USF start accepting applications for Spring 2022?

I applied for fall, but I got deferred because I already completed a lot of the required 1st-semester classes. Hope that clears things up!

Did USFCA automatically defer your application or were you waitlisted first and then deferred? Also, out of curiosity when you say “I got deferred” does that mean you automatically start Spring 2022?

Sorry this is the first time I’m  applying to nursing programs ?

Does anyone have a plan of paying for each semester? I got a 15k scholarship award (annually, so 7.5k per semester). I also applied for FAFSA, but the cost is still extremely high. With FAFSA, the cost for me cut down to around 23k. With the scholarship, I'd still have to pay around 15k per semester.

Can any current or prospective students advise me on this? Did anyone take out loans?
