I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!
Hey! I am organizing a pre-semester get-together at Jeremiah's near Cobb's Hill Park on Monroe Avenue for August 19th around 5:30-6. If you would like to come, let me know and I can reserve space for us. Also, if other members of our cohort are not on this page, please let them know they're more than welcome! Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hi Ladies and Guys! My interview is next Monday. Thanks for the information, SON14 and URredux. I am a bit nervous too. Any information you want to share would be much appreciated.
I am applying for the AMPNN. Anyone else? Also, I was told the first interview is for the BP. If you have applied for the MP and the first interview goes well, they recommend you a second interview.
Does anyone have information about the second and what that is like?
I HOPE I get in! I'm so excited... I have a BA in Economics and an MA in School Psychology. I'm a school psychologist FINALLY pursuing a lifelong desire to be a nurse.
They are pretty strict about the shoes. If you can find an all white sneaker, that will work, but it needs to be solid leather, no canvas. This is important - a member of my clinical group just got her shoe covered in blood the other day. You can wait until you get here and the local uniform stores give you like a 30% discount on actual nursing shoes. You don't actually need them until you start clinical which is November for you guys.
On a personal note - I have been wearing solid white Puma's the last 3 weeks and just ordered some actual nursing shoes. I no longer care about looking dorky, just want my feet to not be so sore at the end of the day! They may or may not be picky about the gray - it depends on your clinical instructor, which will change with each rotation.
To all current students:How strict is the white shoe thing? I saw a nice pair of Puma's I liked, but they had very light gray accents on them. Where do I find all white shoes?
Hello again!
I just had my phone interview 2 hours ago and wanted to update everyone. The questions were almost exact to the ones previously posted - so thanks a lot to those who shared! The interview was quite casual and the interviewer was very nice. Once I had calmed my nerves, I felt I gave the best answers I could. So my tip - just relax and be yourself!
And now, the waiting game begins. Late September...are you here yet??

Sorry, I meant to mention this. I asked her and she said that some parts of the application were weighted more than others, but as for which, she didn't know. From her explanation I gathered that the whole application would be given a total score based on the combo of sub-scores for different parts, including GPA, essay, interview, healthcare experience, and what you majored in previously (science vs. non-science). However, this may not be an absolute list of all the factors taken into consideration, she simply mentioned that these were definitely parts of the application that were important.
(And by the way, I was totally nervous for my interview!! I felt like doing this before ----> :barf01: But I felt better after the interview began...thank god!!)

Hi Son14,
I am applying for the ampnn program again. I also applied to columbia, nyu, upenn, Boston college, ub, usm, Yale, Marquette, and ucsf. I think I am just trying to increase my chances. I just hope to get into a masters program. I will keep my fingers crossed for us.
