I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!
I just had my interview!!! I was super nervous But some of the questions they asked me is what have I been doing that has led me to Nursing? What did i major in in Colleg?. What is my understanding of a nurse? What was i planing on doing with my degree?
She explained the program and then asked if I had any questions.
She also mentioned they receive about 200 applications or so and that only 60 get accepted. She said that the interview is part of the process but not everyone gets interviewed because of the high amount of applications they receive. She also mentioned that they are doing interviews throughout August and that we will hear from them by the end of September the latest.
Good luck everyone!!!
Hey great info, thanks SON14! Everyone is always nervous during an interview (I know I am!) and I'm sure you did just fine! We are always our own worst critics.
I am going to have the same interviewer...was she friendly? And did she happen to mention how they review the applicants, as in do certain aspects of application weigh more in the decision, like GPA vs. essay vs. interview, etc.?

Yes, I agree we are our worst critics. She is really friendly, and I really enjoyed talking to her! Just that I hate my nerves got to me
She did not mention nor did I ask how applicants are reviewed. What I remember is that she said not all applicants get an interview because they do not have the GPA. She did not mention anything about the essay. Please ask her, I would love to know that answer.
It's good to know she is easy-going and amiable. This is my second round of applications to nursing schools (for many reasons I won't bore you with), and I had an interview at Duke last year...lets just say it was more like I was on trial than it was an interview! So I feel much more at ease now that you've told me your experience. Actually, overall I've really enjoyed the staff I've had contact with at U of R, they've been much more receptive and helpful through the admissions process than at any other school I've applied to in the past. Which gives me a good feeling about this school...and makes me want that acceptance letter even more.
I will definitely bring up those questions to her and I'll be updating Aug 1st to let you know how everything went!

All of the pre-reqs for ABPNN have to be completed before matriculation, not before applying, so you can still be in the process of completing some pre-reqs when you apply - as long as they are finished before the start of classes.
