I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!
haha same. well the interview was only 30 mins. She said that she thought i would be a fit for the program but then again she also said that they decision is not up to her. she fills out a form from the interview and submits it with the rest of our application which i guess will then go through an admissions board for the bachelor program, then our application is reviewed again for the master's program by some board. it was not really clear if she thought i was a fit for the bachelors or the masters program but she just told me to keep my grades up( i still have this semester to complete) bc that could be the difference between who gets in and who doesn't. =anxiety until midmay and possibly throughout june.
syberian-you're right, they dont collect transcripts from everyone before they make the decision to my knowledge. Maybe my interviewer was just saying in general that because there are so many applicants the competition is tough so it might come down to grades? i'm not sure. when they called me to set up my interview they did ask me what my grades were like so far this semester.
Yes, I interviewed back in early March and they asked me what my current prereq. grades were at that time. They need to make sure you aren't getting low C's or something in which case you might be overpassed by another solid candidate.
Good luck everyone!
If 60 candidates out of 200 is the acceptance count, than the percentages are even more in everyone's favor!

Hi everyone,
Hope we all stay in contact and after we find out about accceptance letters, we should maybe start a facebook group or something. I think it would be great to get to know one another. Is anyone coming from Buffalo? It would be greak to find out where everyone is coming from.
URHopeful,
Haha, actually yearrrrsss ago a friend of mine who was in this band that liked to basically rock out and break things, decided to give everyone a pirate name. My name is Megan, so peglegmeg was born :)
I've found it quite funny and have held on to it through time. If I ever actually do lose a leg, I'll have a wooden pegleg crafted. I'll hallow it out and put change and lip gloss and such inside.
Thanks for the compliment!
How can keeping your grades up make a difference between who gets in and who doesn't? They don't ask for current semester grades do they? Cause I won't have mine until I'm finished with exams and everything, probably around June 1st.
I am in the program starting in just 2 weeks. Back in October/November they asked me to send grade updates from all my classes and then transcripts once those non-UR classes ended. I had to get my profs to email admissions. I would check with Nancy Kita to see if they need that. Mine might be a different case though since I had only started the prereqs last fall as well.
You're such a pessimist, Syb Pup
I know! Haha, but I've started really trying believe I will get in, and it's making me feel better. Also, your comment about hollowing out your peg leg if you got one is hillarious.
And I love the idea of making a FB group. We could call it "Rochester Accelerated Nursing, September 2011 Cohort"
We can't make it "class of" any year, because some of us are BSN and others are MSN, so we have different graduation years, but I think it'd be fun.
URHopeful - you want to make the group??

Well you have a great profile..amazing grades and incredible experinece. I am in the FNP option as well. How do you think the interview went? Was it a long interview? I hope we both get in also. I think it would be awesome to start with someone who in the exact same track. I think you have nothing to worry about. She said we should find out by Mid May and throughout June. I think I am nervous now. LOL
