University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

Published

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Thanks URHopeful! That definitely helped! We get to wear white scrub tops with navy bottoms, not too bad! Let's just hope I don't spill coffee all over the white shirts!

no problem xoxjedixox,

Duing my interview I saw students where them on campus. The shirts are nice, and the the U of R logo is really nice. We will be styling LOL

It would definitely be nice if we could just wear the scrubs everyday, they are so comfy!

Is that not what we get to do?

Well do we wear the scrubs to class? Or is that just casual wear and then scrubs for clinical?

I don't know. Where did you see white tops btw? In the handbook I saw white undershirts for the tops, but it didn't say the color of the scrub tops. It said navy bottoms preferred.

Hey Siberian, I think the white tops are for clinicals, but if the hospital has their own rules, then you can follow that. On page 69 above the table under dress code says

Dress Code. Students are expected to dress appropriately when involved in professional activities, for which faculty set and enforce professional standards. Individual units or agencies may also determine dress regulations. The uniform for clinical is a white scrub top (with a plain white tee shirt underneath) and navy scrub pants. The SON Student Patch is to be permanently attached to the left mid-clavicular area. Accessories include a watch with second hand, black pen, and stethoscope. Hospital-issued scrub clothes are not to be worn outside of clinical patient care areas without a white lab coat or appropriate jacket/coat.

I hope we don't have to wear white tops. I am not a big fan of the shade white in clothing and cannot imagine how dirty they could get. Hope this info helps. I wander if we will start getting decision letters next week. That would be awesome..

Hm, well I guess we're wearing white. At least we get navy bottoms! My friend in another program has to wear white top and bottom for his class, meaning white underwear only! He once forgot and wore lime green boxer-briefs...:uhoh3:

When I first started my job at the hospital I worked at I had to wear white scrub bottoms and it was quite annoying! (for both stains and see-through reasons!) Thankfully, we switched uniforms so I don't have to do that anymore. I think the Navy bottom with white top will definitely give us a classy look!

Hi Nat, Congrats on MGH. Please let me know how your interviews goes. Who did you schedule it with? Hope you decided on UR and we end up being classmates. Best of luck and please give me a Kudo. I have not had one yet LOL.

Hey URhopeful!

My interview is this Thursday. I was told that the interviews are divided into bachelors and masters parts, so right now they will do the bachelors interview and if they find me suitable, another person will contact me about the masters portion. Basically the reason behind that is they received too many applications for the direct entry program this year and they said that many people get too tired after the first year and do not want to pursue masters right away, so they want to make sure that you can handle the entire program.

Did you guys have only one interview?

I applied to just the bachelors portion only (mainly because I don't know what I want to specialize in yet as an NP!), so I only had one interview. As far as I've heard, its been one interview for the master's students as well.

Ditto. And other Master's students on here (look back through the thread) are saying they are only doing one interview this year for both BS and MS students.

Omg the wait is so long. Everyone else has heard by now - Rochester's is the latest one I know of!
