University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

Published

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Just got my acceptance package in the mail!!!! I'm so happy the wait is over. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Has anyone else gotten a letter or a call from the University? I also applied to the Jan 2011 cohort. I read the thread about the letters being sent last week. But, so far, I have received nothing. I am not sure if this is good or bad. I am curious to know if letters were sent to everyone or if the school is sending them out in batches.

Thanks!

I just got off the phone with admissions. I was told that the first batch of letters were sent out last week, so those people have heard one way or the other already ( or will within a few days ). I am on the second batch of letters which will be sent out this week or next. They said I should hear back by end of next week at the latest. Although, the fact that she didn't offer to tell me over the phone makes me worried!

Ansaguy is right. The first batch of letters/calls were made last week and we have until Sept. 30th to respond to the acceptance. After the first batch of people respond, they should figure out how many more acceptances to send out. Keep your chin(s) up!

I got tired of waiting for a letter. So I called the school directly. I was told that I was on the waiting list. Now I wonder how big is this waiting list, how do they prioritize who gets selected from that list once a slot is available and how frequently does a waiting list acceptance turn into a firm acceptance. The person I spoke to said the list is good thru January 2011. I would love to hear from anyone in the same predicament and/or anyone with additional insights.

Thanks!

Specializes in ER/ICU.

I was very grateful that I was accepted to UR, but I decided to go to another school.

I wish all of you (accepted and waitlisted) the best. =)

Hey guys, I just got accepted too!!! congrats to

those that were accepted, and goodluck to

those waiting. I'm sure if they mentioned your letter being sent in the second batch it's good news ansaguy. if it's a no I think they would be extremely vague?

Was wondering what people are doing about housing?

anyone coming from NYC?

i have been looking at this site www.studenthousingrochester.com - pretty impressive.

very nice homes within walking distance of the school - not planning to bring a car.

private bathrooms for each room and furnished common areas.

Thanks for the info 2011nursing, I like the thought of a 2 min walk away, and the starting rent is really impressive! How do you plan to get around for rotations w/o a car though? I'm assuming we do rotations at more hospitals than just strong.

I'm planning on visiting Roc this Friday, and will update with what I see/think of the area, as well as how convenient it is to get around town w/o a car

Hi all -- NYCClara thanks for the boost! about an hour ago I heard back from the school, and I'll be starting in January. I was told that the letters should be going out tomorrow or Friday at the latest, and that all of us on the second round of letters have to accept by October 25th.

I assume we will probably do some rotations at Highland Hospital as well since it's another hospital affiliated with UofR. I'm pretty sure there will be a third place on the list too for our adult/home clinicals. Highland is a little north of Strong and the school. The South Wedge can be a pretty decent place too if you're looking for apartments, and right around highland park is good. when I googled I found rocrooms.com which had some places to live.

Anyway, good luck to everyone still waiting, and I'll see everyone starting in January!

I also was just accepted, and can not wait to start in January.

For those of you accepted, could you possibly post stats? Undergrad GPA? Pre-req GPA, healthcare exp, undergrad school/major?

Applying for next May and very worried!
