University of Rochester ABPNN 2019

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Justine. I applied for U of R ABPNN for January of '19. I am still waiting for a response for an admissions decision but haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else applied and heard back from the program?

Yes NK told me decisions will be made by the end of next week. They are apparently still interviewing which I found surprising.

that sounds right, that is what she told me on Thursday. I'm just excited to hear an official decision and see what the Financial aid looks like.

That's what I'm the most nervous about ..the financial aid packages. I spoke to the financial aid counselor and he said for some reason FASFA doesn't really treat this program like an undergraduate program so we are not awarded nearly as much as subsidized and unsubsidized loans.

I called and also heard mid October.

Do you know how much they would offer ?

I spoke with the financial aid counselor at the open house. he said they have a few scholarships that go to about 15 students I believe- these scholarships would not cover much though. maybe 20k at most ( I don't remember too well what he said. I wasn't impressed when he told me though :) ) . The rest needs to be financed with loans. Usually people take out private loans in addition to the government loans apparently. If you reach out to him is was very helpful in explaining it. There are lots of factors to consider.

I'm just trying to be realistic with myself. i doubt i will attend even if I get accepted due to the cost- it's nice to have a goal though :) I'll most likely go to MCC ( the local community college).

Anyone know the deposit amount/due date?

I think I read somewhere on a previous thread that it's $1,000. Unsure about deadlines

I also just called (I can't imagine how sick and tried of calls NK must be already!) but she told me end of next week.

Based on what I've heard - the deposit is $1000 and they require it within a few weeks after the acceptance letters go out. And when I spoke to financial aid, he told me that it is $12500 per year max for this program - working out to be $4100 per semester if you get the max amount.

Any idea whether the aid is need or merit based?

oh sorry. That's government loans that I was talking about. So that's....however the government decides such things. I honestly have no idea!
