University of Rochester ABPNN 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Justine. I applied for U of R ABPNN for January of '19. I am still waiting for a response for an admissions decision but haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else applied and heard back from the program?

Alright, yeah I'm getting stressed. What are y'alls backgrounds and future interests (if you know)?

I mentioned a bit of my background alittle bit earlier in the post. But currently working at Strong as an Ambulatory Tech, I graduated from RIT a good number of years ago with a Mechanical Engineering degree. I'm looking to more go the management route so Nurse Manager instead of NP, I like more management/leadership type roles myself.

Oh, my bad!

Are you looking to get your master's from UR also?

I graduated with degrees in History and Feminist Studies years ago, and worked as a social worker and community organizer for the past three years. I want get my NP license in Women's Health and Adult-Gerontology. I don't have any medical experience, though. Mostly just public health related experience, so I am hoping that will not count against me. But I want to work with underserved communities.

Yes, eventually. I live in Rochester and already work here at the hospital so I'm not going anywhere haha. I think that I want to really experience being a nurse before going on to the next level. I want to try out a few different fields of nursing to really see what I enjoy, currently I really enjoy to hustle and bustle of the ED and acute care but also am finding labor and deliver very interesting so we shall see!

I also am a tech at Strong! My previous degree is in biology with a psych minor. And I'm definitely looking forward to exploring the different areas of nursing during clinicals. As of now, I think I'm most interested in the ED, ICU, and OR.

Hi everyone, I am Yelena. I am freaking out about this decision.....the wait is driving me insane!!!!

Welcome! I'm right there with you.

What's your background?

Hello all! I called the office today and they said decisions will go out first week of October! Just wanted to share :)

I'm also curious to hear what everyone's plans/thoughts are on paying for this program.

I have a doctorate degree from another country. I am going to use private loans to cover some of the cost ( around 30k). I am interested mostly in psych NP. I have also applied for two other programs. My first choice is Rochester though as it's only 12 months. The other two programs I have applied to are 16 months and 18 months in duration.

Our time is getting closer guys!!! *bites nails* but still October seems so far away. I wonder if we can still call like next week to ask find out over the phone like previous cohorts. If they're sending out letters the first week of October then we should be able to call and find out sometime soon.

I am from NYC, so if I get in, its going to be a big transition and a lot to prepare. I am waiting on this school and pace. This is definitely a stressful journey and classes didn't even start yet. I am praying that I get in.

She said they would be giving calls first week of October and sending letters to those not admitted
