University of Rochester ABPNN Spring 2020

Published

Hi all,

I did not see another forum for the U of Rochester ABPNN Spring 2020 (January entry) yet, so I figured it would be a good time to make one since we will all be submitting our apps soon! Has anyone submitted yet?

check with your school to see if they sent it out, i requested mine and U of R received it within a week

I called the school and they told me it was sent out. I just don’t understand because I requested from two different schools and not even one of them was received.

Hey everyone! I sent in my application at the end of June and I received a call from Nancy yesterday morning to schedule an in-person interview! I am scheduled for Tuesday the 30th at noon and it will be with one of the programs clinical instructors. I can post more on Wednesday for those who would like more details ?

how did your interview go with the clinical instructor?

It went really good! She asked me the usual questions.....Why U of R? Why this program? Why nursing? Why do you think you are a good fit for the accelerated program? She also asked situational questions such as "Tell me about a time where you had to take leadership and what did you learn about yourself from the experience. I also got lucky because she actually used be a nurse on the unit where I currently work so she knew exactly what I did everyday and some of the people that I work with.

Has anyone else had an interview? If so, how did it go?

The waiting game is so painful...

Has anyone been reached out to in regards to a second interview for the MSN track? During my interview scheduling I was informed they only had 6 slots for the MSN track.

I have not heard back about the MSN interview either. I e-mailed about a month ago to get a time-frame on the next interview, but I was told: "If they are interested after your first interview they will set up an interview time." Gave me the impression my first interview was received poorly, even though I had the exact opposite feeling after completing it. I could be over-analyzing the process, though.

For those who applied for the ABSN, I spoke with Nancy the other day and she advised we won’t hear back until end of September. They’re still currently interviewing.

However, looking at previous threads, some people were told the same but heard back earlier.

Idk...but am I the only one offended they only have 6 slots available for the MSN program? Feels like a scam to me honestly

The website is very vague and doesn't paint the best picture on how few get accepted into the MSN right away. The good thing is if you get accepted into the ABSN program you can apply for the MSN program again while in school and there should be more seats open to the BSN/ABSN students.

Has anyone calculated the total cost of attendance I came down to 48k for the BSN and 140k for the BSN/MSN combined
