For those who applied for the ABSN, I spoke with Nancy the other day and she advised we won’t hear back until end of September. They’re still currently interviewing. However, looking at previous threads, some people were told the same but heard back earlier.

The waiting game is so painful...

I actually saw the same but then went back to 2018 and saw people didn't receive decisions until mid to end of September. Wide range but I think we can anticipate hearing back mid-Sept to as late as early October. Let the waiting game begin...

of the ones i know off the top of my head: utica college, nyu, stony brook, pace university, university of rochester, hunter college. I would also utilize: https://www.nursingprocess.org/accelerated-nursing-programs/new-york/ you'll have to look at each school for their start dates

Honestly, my interview was straight forward. "Tell me about yourself, why nursing, why UofR, etc." Then ended off with asking questions. Best of luck!

Hi Ontario - I received a call from Nancy to schedule an interview. I'm sure they're still in the process of reviewing and making calls since the deadline was only 10 days ago! Plus we had 4th of July week so don't lose hope!

I'm sure admissions want to see that you got the application itself submitted by the deadline. Recommendation letters do make a big impact on the admission's council's overall decision so I would advise you contact your recommenders and ask them to action on it as soon as possible. I would also call the university and explain your situation that it is still pending so you are not overlooked!

I wasn't nervous for the interview at all. The questions were very straightforward and the answers came naturally since I've been thinking about this career change for quite some time now. My interview was with Debra Kloesz, a clinical instructor at the UofR. What makes me nervous and is giving me anxiety is the waiting to know whether I got into the school or not haha

Thank you! I just had my interview which went on for a little over half an hour. It was a standard interview where they wanted me to tell them about myself, Why UofR, how do I challenge myself intellectually, etc. It was a very straightforward interview. The interviewer was extremely kind and she provided a lot of good insight on the program/ school.

I submitted my application for the ABSN program a few weeks ago! the priority deadline is 8/1 so I doubt we'd hear anything until after then.

Hi Archie, I submitted my application too! I tried calling the admissions office and they told me they won’t start reviewing apps until after the deadline. Hope this helps!

For my own sake, I would hope not haha (jk, but not really). My grades/ GPA aren't bad at all but I spoke with someone at the school and they advised they take a pretty holistic approach when reviewing applications. Yes, grades are important but so is your personal statement, recommendations, and any relevant experiences you might have (i.e. volunteering at a hospital).

Per the website, "Once we have your completed application, Nancy Kita, our admissions counselor, will contact you to arrange an interview. Not all applicants are offered an interview, and those who are not interviewed will be sent a letter advising them that they will not be accepted to the program." Hope this helps! Also, I submitted my application but my transcripts haven't been received yet.

Hi NYFutureRN - glad to see some other finance people looking to make the switch. Good to know I’m not alone haha I’m actually also in New York too. Anyways, to answer your question, after you submit your application and pay the fee there is a page that show you the status of what’s outstanding (transcripts, recommendations, resume). You would attach and upload on that page.
