University of Rochester ABPNN MAY 2019

Published

Hey everyone!

I recently applied to UOR ABPNN for May of '19. I had my interview on October 9th. I am waiting for a response from admissions but have not heard anything back yet. I read online from their FAQ ~12 weeks you will receive an admission. I have read previous posts and saw people were getting their decision in February and so fourth.

Has anyone else applied to this program and heard anything back yet?

Did you email and ask or did they email you first?

I emailed and asked.

where are people planning on living if accepted into the program?

I hadn’t invested much time into looking for a place. I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Haha. I’m guessing college housing is out of the picture?

According to the websites FAQ section, most students live in apartments nearby and others (fewer) live in graduate housing. But I would guess that nearby apartments fill up rather quickly. I was wondering for the people who are relocating to attending the program, do you guys have a car?

I have a car...I’ll trade you a ride for a couch to crash on ?

If anyone decides to call the admissions office for more information, please relay the information here! ?

I called admissions to find out a time frame for when they will be letting us know decisions and they told me it should be mailed out by the end of the month. I read past threads for the 2018 cohorts and they all received calls about their decisions. It didn’t sound like they were doing that this time. I didn’t want to press for more information. I guess it’s just a waiting game from here on out. I’m surprised at how long it takes since so many people including myself would have to relocate if accepted.

I live in the area, so if anyone needs suggestions on bad/good areas and housing I'm your gal. Feel free to ask me questions ?

@bspart2 thank you! Do you think a car is necessary & where do you suggest living that's close to campus (walking distance)?

@BSpart2 what is the average cost of rent out there?

I’d say try and live on one of the side streets near Kendrick. They call it the white coat ghetto over there because it’s where all of the residents live. As far as walking distance I wouldn’t live past lattimore and absolutely don’t cross the Genesee river because it’s incredibly unsafe on that side

For a 1 bedroom I’d say 7-9 hundred give or take. The more rural you get the cheaper your rent will be, like chili, gates, spencerport, and Greece are cheapest.
