Get the APA software PERRLA. It will be a lifesaver. I have 2 more classes to go at IWU and it has helped tremendously. My friend who attends UOP told me about PERRLA. She uses it and I purchased it after trying it out on her computer....

Where can one find PERRLA? Is it Windows only or Mac friendly too? I looked at some software that helps format APA (along with some other cool stuff) but it was kinda pricey.
This is where I purchased it from last year. I have Windows so I don't know if it is compatible with MAC. The website can probably answer that question.

Awesome! Thanks. Unfortunately it is Windows only. I have an Intel iMac and can run Windows---going to install Windows 7 today---and hopefully that will work.
Otherwise, it's back to relying on the APA 6th edition manual...
As a new grad (BSN) who has yet to land that first stable job (I did work med surg 3.5 months), it looks like I am unable to start a Masters program at UOP because I have to have 1 year of medical experience?
It also states I have to have so much work experience in the last ten years. Well, for the past ten years I stayed home with two children - didn't work, and then went to school for BSN and still didn't work through that adventure thankfully. Looks like this is a no go for me - Total Bummer! I can't find a job and I can't get my master's - Talk about screwed.

I currently enrolled in UoP for my BSN. If you earned your BSN from UoP, how many classes on average is it to get your MSN? Just looking for an estimate for budgeting purposes.
i have a few questions. i have a ba degree in communications and have now decided that i want to go into nursing. i have looked at a few schools that offer an accelerated msn program for people who have a ba degree in any filed and am currently doing my pre-req's. i just came across uofp and saw that they have a program similar to what i was considering at a ca state college. i was wondering how much it cost at uofp, how long it takes to complete an msn, and do i have to do pre-req's (anatomy, physiology, chemistry, microbiology) before being accepted to uofp, or an i start without them? i have a ba and didn't take many science courses.
I am unsure if UofP offers a direct entry MSN or not. However, there might be some posters who have done that or you might want to do a search for that subject.
I believe the accelerated programs are for RN's who have a bachelor's in another field. Meanming they received a BA and then an RN through an ADN or di[polma program. They are then able to pursue a bridge program/MSN. If you are not a Registered Nurse you can not do an accelerated MSN Program.
Hi Scotty, I did my BSN with UOP and just this week finished my MSN with UOP. When you choose your electives with your BSN choose ones that will count towards your MSN. For example one of the required classes for the MSN was HCS587 Creating Change Within Organizations and I took this as an elective in the BSN program. Also in the MSN program if you have taken your BSN with UOP you are exempted from the first class HCS/504 Intro to Grad Studies. If I can be of any help please do not hesitate to ask.
Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've been on this site but wanted to check back in and say that I completed my MSN/MHA at UoP last week. Took me a little under 3 years with a couple of months off last year due to a move and job change. Just want to let you all know it is doable and so worth it in the end!

Anyone thinking about going back to school- go for it! It takes dedication and focus but it puts you a step ahead in the long run.
