Agreed....any other programs that you feel do that other than UOP? I would like to know.

Kaplan University, College Network to name 2. I just woke up, so will have to think heavier on the list. Right now, most viable for online is WGU, if available in your geographic area. Like all online programs, some have had issues, but I hear mostly excellent things about them. An instructor or 2 on this forum, and multiple students, current and former. Many of my coworkers are attendees as well.
I obtained my MSN, which was my goal. Don't think I will pursue a doctorate. I have seen the online MSN nurse practitioner programs. Not sure I like them. Seems like the clinical aspect is lacking. The NPs from these programs seem to lack skills and a solid knowledge base.

I think all of you need to be very careful about posting negative comments about online nursing classes and degrees.
I totally love online nursing coursework and distance education. In fact, I earned my BSN degree online and currently 'attend' my second semester of an online MSN degree program. Distance education opens the doors to nontraditional student populations when they'd otherwise be closed.
My beef is not with online degrees and distance learning. It is with schools that have engaged in shady, deceptive practices that are devoid of integrity:

This thread is specific to University of Phoenix, not online degrees in general.
Not all online programs are created equal, and while U of P may have some decent programs, as an entity, that institution is not highly regarded anymore.
I was considering applying there until I've heard from three different employers and a handful of nursing instructors that nurses who currently hold degrees from U of P do not advance compared to other online entities. Those comments in addition to the news reports was enough for me to apply elsewhere.
I have advanced without any issues as well as many nurses who have UOP degrees...so your post is moot...apparently, you have not read all the posts on this thread because other online programs were mentioned...I am still waiting for your post regarding the other online nursing programs that are substandard and for practice post some legitimate references ...put those grad school academic skills to work...don't be lazy.

I am not speaking of you specifically, or anyone in particular here who may have attended U of P. You are one individual.
However, the overall consensus has not been favorable for U of P for years. Some people will advance. This depends on you and your employer. This is not true of everyone, based on the reputation of this institution.
And yes, I have read the other posts in this thread. Thank you.
