Hi All,
I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?
I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an FYI about orientation...we (Fall 09 cohort) actually had an open house prior to the two day orientation and that's when we tried on and ordered scrubs, etc. Orientation was when they gave us clinical group assignments and schedules etc. We definitely had enough time to order scrubs and books and everything prior to class starting. Good luck to everyone!
I was out of town and freaking out about not getting a letter but I saw it in the mail and.... I GOT INTO SAN DIEGO!!!! is anyone looking for a roommate? =) I know what you mean enb611 I've been waiting for a letter for the longest time and now that it's here I still dont believe it... it's this whole excited scared feeling. To everyone else who got letters, congrats. To all alternates, dont give up. I know 2 girls who got into Glendale and they were alternates... dont lose hope! It could happen =)
For those who are still waiting for a response, I just received an email indicating that:
"I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for the Spring 2010 term to pursue a BSN degree in the College of Nursing at San Diego. Your official letter of admissions and instructions for acceptance of the offer has been placed in the mail and should reach you in the coming days.
While awaiting your letter we need to inform you that the deposit on enrollment which confirms acceptance and holds your position in the class was recently increased from $100.00 to $250.00 by the college, and unfortunately the letter does not accurately reflect the change. The online enrollment deposit site will accurately require a payment of $250.00 which will be applied to your first term tuition.
I sincerely regret any confusion this error may have created, but hope that this email serves as wonderful news and timing as you enter the holiday break."
Hope this helps!!! Good luck to everyone who is waiting for a response!!!
Just wanted to say that I got the same e-mail too. My husband and toddler son are now doing a little victory dance as I am writing this :). I will be starting in Glendale and am very excited to meet some of you on this board!
In response to a couple of the previous questions, I took a look at the service indicators and there isn't a change in status. Also, I logged onto the application site too and it seems that the deposit site is a separate entity.
For those who were accepted in previous semesters, could you please share with us what type of vaccinations you were required to get for the program?
Rolliepolee,
This is a list that someone posted during the summer. I am not sure how accurate it still is, but it seems pretty basic. I have been saving it just in case!
1. TB Skin Test-Copies of 2 negative TB skin test, administered & read w/in the last 12 mos. (expires after 1 yr. so you will have to renew this while in school)
2. Varicella-Receive 2 doses of vaccine at least 1 mo. apart or a copy of a + varicella titer lab report.
3. Rubeola-Evidence of 2 MMR vaccinations received after age of 12 mos. & at least 1 mo. apart, or a copy of + titer lab report.
4. Mumps-Same as #3.
5. Rubella-Same as #3.
6. Hepatits B-Evidence of at least the 1st 2 out of 3 vaccinations before school begins & 3rd can be completed during the semester.
-If all 3 have been completed, need a copy of records or + titer lab report.
7. Tetnus & Diphtheria-Evidence of 3 childhood Diphtheria-Pertussis-Tetorifice (DPT) & 1 adult Tetorifice-Diphtheria (Td) w/in the last 10 yrs.
-or If you can't provide childhood DPT series then you may sign a waiver stating you can't locate your DPT records but you must still provide documentation of the 1 adult td w/in the last 10 yrs.
-or Evidence of having 2 adult Td's w/ at least 1 being w/in the last 10 yrs.
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted.
I checked my mailbox yesterday and my email this morning; nothing from Univ of OK.
I was a Glendale alternate last year because I had 2 classes pending. When I applied for Spring 10, all my prereq's were completed. I was really hoping to get in .. ):
