University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I applied last fall, I had 2 pending classes - I was actually waitlisted.

This time around, all my classes have been completed.

From what I'm reading, some people were lucky enough to be admitted even though they had classes in progress , so hopefully you get in - we both get in (:

Don't lose hope! This was my first time applying to OU and I am one of those people that was lucky enough to be admitted to San Diego campus with Nutrition and History classes in progress. I thought I had no chance of getting in and I'm relieved that I was accepted.

And yes, I did receive the email this morning as well as my official letter last Saturday.

Does anyone know what open house is? Is that where we get a list

of all our vaccines? I saw the list

Specializes in Emergency Department.

All,

I was accepted and received both the letter in the mail on Saturday and an email earlier this morning. Somone also asked about courses in progress. I am currently taking Microbiology and have my final Dec 15th. I am not sure exactly what the admissions committee considered in the decision. From what I understood from previous posts it was heavy on GPA...not sure though.

If anyone hears about the open house or orientation post it. I am sure we will receive an email, but some may be in direct contact. We should all get together and meet up. It never hurts to start the program with friends in hand!

Thanks enb11 for the vaccination information! It's nice to have an idea of what I need to go get done. I wonder if we're required to have a physical as well.

I emailed the program coordinator and the admissions officer about open house and orientation but haven't heard from either one yet. I'll post if I hear anything. Oh & Sdgirl, someone posted that open house is when we try on the scrubs, etc. & orientation is when we get our schedules, and receive clinical group assignments, etc.

ALTERNATE! :crying2:

kalinurse, a few ppl posted about friends who were eventually accepted into the program even though they were alternates. there's still hope! good luck to you!

For everyone in San Diego, if you're interested in meeting up during open house/orientation, would you guys like to swap email addresses?

Yes, that is a great idea. I'm interested in swapping email addresses. Let me know!

I'm interested as well. It would be nice to meet up and get to know each other ahead of time. As one of the previous posters said, it's good to make friends first!

For anyone who was accepted with a course or two in progress: I emailed my adviser and asked if I should just submit the transcript with my final grade to the same place I sent all my other official transcripts and she said yes. I was not sure if it would be different or not once we were accepted into the program. That address was:

University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

Office of Admissions and Records

P.O. Box 26901

BSEB 200

Oklahoma City, OK 73126

ALTERNATE! :crying2:
