University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nicole

Congratulations to everyone!!! I just finished my second semester. The program can be intense, but totally doable. I have worked 20 hours/week in addition to school- I'm busy, but its good. Overall, this semester was great. I started in summer which was super fast pace- I was stressed the entire time. I didn't feel any stress this time around. Maybe I've adjusted to the schedule too.

Once you get your financial aid packet, its really easy to set up. The financial aid office was really helpful in guiding me through the process.

Anyway, I'm so excited for you guys! It goes by so fast. I can't believe I'm half way done!

Happy Holidays!

thanks for the info! lucky you... half way through.... sounds nice! was your first semester 10 weeks? it seems like no matter which session you are up to, if it is in the summer they condense it to 10 or 11 weeks....

Have everyones checks that were written from the open house gone through yet? My check to ACE was cashed immediately, but the one that I wrote to OU for my lab kit is still not showing up... Just want to make sure it isn't just me and they lost it or something!

Whew, thanks for the reminder about that check! I don't think I've seen it go through yet. And still no financial aid letter.

Are any of the recent graduates on here, or does anybody know any? I'm wondering how they are doing with the NCLEX and getting jobs, since it's the first class to graduate.

I believe it is the clinigalbgscreening one. I started to fill it out but got confused when it was asking about my previous addresses but wouldn't give me a place to put the street address, so I put it off. What were the options for the tests? Our form doesn't specify anything other than it is a urine analysis.... is that an option?

When I go to questdiagnostics.com they have different options for the tests whether its regulatory or not and paper or not.

Both the checks that I wrote haven't been cashed yet! :)

I also just finished my first semester! It was do-able; and I kind of slacked off in one class for the final and didn't do as well as I thought I would ......and it lowered my grade a whole letter grade - so STAY STRONG through the end! I learned that lesson, and I will not slack off towards the end EVER again!

AS for the new grads, they just graduated and they cannot sit for the NCLEX for 45 days after graduation so most of them probably won't take it until late Jan/Feb of 2009.

Good luck to all of you starting in January! :D

Does anyone know who the disclosure form for the background check goes to??

I have a couple of questions about the background and drug testing. 1 page tells you to go to quest diagnostics and then another page tells you to go to clinicalbgscreening. Which one do we suppose to register at? Also, when I was trying to make an appt on-line through quest diagnostics. The website ask you to check the test that you need. Which one are we suppose to check. I just want to make sure I do this right. Thanks.

You do the clinicalbgscreening first and then take the form to one of the quest diagnostic place for urine test.

I remember just putting in the street name for the previous addresses. For the tests, you go to one of the listed quest diagnostic place for urine test. No appointment needed, and just present the form (included from the open house folder) to the front desk and they will know that you need a urine test. I just got it done Friday 12/19.

PM me for that information.

I just called the financial aid office and they said the award packages went out the 8th, but I still haven't received mine so they were going to check on that. They said they've been getting them back so at least some people have received them. They offered to fax it to me, and I don't have a fax but if anyone else who is still waiting does, you might want to call and see if they'll fax it to you.

I know that after tomorrow the financial aid office will be closed until the 5th of January. For any of you that are still waiting, you can have something faxed to Kinkos and they will hold it there for you to pick up so that might be an option if you are getting anxious. I do it all the time, they just charge you a very small fee.
