University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nicole

I have a list from the July '08 orientation...note that a history of having the disease will not meet any of the requirements:

1. TB Skin Test-Copies of 2 negative TB skin test, administered & read w/in the last 12 mos. (expires after 1 yr. so you will have to renew this while in school)

2. Varicella-Receive 2 doses of vaccine at least 1 mo. apart or a copy of a + varicella titer lab report.

3. Rubeola-Evidence of 2 MMR vaccinations received after age of 12 mos. & at least 1 mo. apart, or a copy of + titer lab report.

4. Mumps-Same as #3.

5. Rubella-Same as #3.

6. Hepatits B-Evidence of at least the 1st 2 out of 3 vaccinations before school begins & 3rd can be completed during the semester.

-If all 3 have been completed, need a copy of records or + titer lab report.

7. Tetnus & Diphtheria-Evidence of 3 childhood Diphtheria-Pertussis-Tetorifice (DPT) & 1 adult Tetorifice-Diphtheria (Td) w/in the last 10 yrs.

-or If you can't provide childhood DPT series then you may sign a waiver stating you can't locate your DPT records but you must still provide documentation of the 1 adult td w/in the last 10 yrs.

-or Evidence of having 2 adult Td's w/ at least 1 being w/in the last 10 yrs.

Just a side note - I only had my first dose of the Hep B vacc done when we started school and all you had to do was fill out a waiver saying you didn't have it and wouldn't hold the school or hospital responsible if you contracted it. And that was OK.

I am also checking every minute! Pretty stressful!

Anyone accepted yet for January start? Keep us posted......

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Just bumping here to see if anyone has gotten any (hopefully) good news yet!

I talked to someone at their main office today and she said e mails should be going out this week, followed by a letter........

Hi there - where did you get your vaccines done? can you do them all like at a community college health services office? I am pretty sure my insurance will not cover random vaccines......

How is school going?

Thank you for checking in with them! I haven't heard from them yet, and I keep checking here to see if anyone else has. :-) I thought they made their decisions last week so maybe they are scheduling the orientation or putting together financial aid packages or something...

Hi All,

I've been checking my e-mail as well. They probably have their list as of Friday evening, Monday to finalize everything, and today was a "holiday", so we will probably hear by tomorrow or definitely before the weekend. Keep looking around for those acceptance letters!

Hi,

No news yet here either! Hopefully we'll hear today! As for the immunizations, I went to public health and my GP. The TD vaccine and the TB tests were cheaper at public health. The varicella ended up costing me about $95 at my normal doctor (public health only gives that one to minors). Luckily I had record of my Hepatitis so I don't need to take care of that one.

Good luck everyone!!!

good luck everyone

did you all apply for january?

I have a question ...did any of you took A&PII and Micro online???

thanks
