Hi All,
I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?
I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nicole

hi all,
fyi:
i wrote to admissions for san diego regarding the admissions decisions and notifications and received the following reply:
ben,
the committee started meeting last friday and admissions decisions have not yet been finalized. it takes six to eight weeks following the deadline (which was october 1st) for admissions decisions to be finalized. admissions decisions are mailed out via us mail. we hope that the decisions will be finalized and mailed next week. i apologize for any confusion.

just one part Anatomy??? sorry I am asking so many questions I am trying to make my schedule and decide where to take my classes so I finish before oct 09thanks
Just 1 part. OU requires only 4-5 semester units of Anatomy so there's no need to take the 2nd part of Anatomy. And also 1 part of Physiology (4-5 units as well). No worries about asking too much questions. Let me know if I can answer more, I'd be happy to.
Aggggg....1 more week? That's really brutal! I dont know about you guys but my heart pounds every time I think of getting the decision from OU. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Auggghh!!!!!!!!!!! Me too!!! Thanks for checking Ben. I do recall that during the last application period people were posting on here that it was going to be another week and then they got emails like a couple days later, but if they're meeting again next week, I guess that's that.
I don't understand what takes so long, because I've been told it's pretty much just straight GPA comparison (last 60 units cumulative and science prereqs), and then they look at the short essays for close calls. It must just be that they're busy.
This is painful!

wow I am really confused now because after my trascript was evaluated I was told that I need 2nd part of A&P....I took A&P I 4 credits....I dont understandETA: ok I was thinking about something else...did you take the whole Anatomy during that class? did you cover the whole book?
My guess is now you only need the 2nd part of A&P which is Anatomy which covers the 2nd half of the book. The Physiology I took covers 1st half and Anatomy covers 2nd half.
OU requires all prereqs to be completed before considering for application.

Now I'm scare...does anyone know what are the reasons for denying admission?

They have 72 spots and I believe they had about 140 applications, so I was told your cumulative (last 60 units) GPA and prerequisite science GPA (microbio, anatomy, physiology, and chemistry) just have to be good enough; i.e. in the top 72. I don't know which GPA is weighted more than the other, though. I went to a meeting where the woman presenting thought the average cumulative GPA for accepted students last term was 3.5. I don't know about the science GPA. They made an exception and let people apply this term who are still finishing prereqs, and in that case they only factor in the classes you've finished.
