University of Oklahoma ABSN 2017

Published

Hey! I haven't seen a post for this yet, but is anyone out there applying to OU's ABSN program for 2017 matriculation?

Thank you! Officially finished classes the last Friday of July, started work as a nurse extern in August, passed nclex in September! Patiently awaiting admission status for OUHSC FNP program :).

As for the ABSN program, I liked it and the workload was totally doable. It's intimidating to hear 2 years of material scrunched in 14 months, but I'm glad I did it over the traditional. A lot of people in my class got admitted off the waiting list, so there's still hope! Good luck everyone.

That's super awesome - Congrats! I have many questions but first things first: did you buy new or used texts? e-Books or physical copies? I heard there was a sale going on at Amazon, and so I'm starting my search now.

I highly recommend the ebook package. I loved the search feature and knowing I have my books with me all the time without actually having to lug it around. The ebook definitely made assignments/research so much easier and less stressful using the index and scanning each page to find what you need. I used to be a hardcopy person, but I converted to love the ebook. It's worth the money. A lot of us got together with partners and split the cost of the ebook and share the username/pw. I believe it's up to 2 computers and 2 devices. Your partner would just buy the dosage calc software on their own separately, which is no problem.

Oh, you buy them altogether or each eBook separately? Where at?

You buy the package. There's two, one for fall and one for spring, but you'll order spring separately at a later time. They'll give you all the information at orientation!

Someone in your class (or even you) can start the fb group for your cohort and let the school know too so they don't accidentally recommend someone else to open another one!

i wouldn't recommend renting because sometimes future classes will reuse a book or you'll reference out of a diff book. Buy the hard copy or get the ebook package.

Hey all! Can anyone tell me if they were accepted with a cummulative gap of less than a 3.0?

I am wanting to apply this October, will have all pre-reqs done, 4.0 last 60 and 4.0 science but my cummulative gpa is less than 3.0 due to them not recognizing academic reprieve.

Would appreciate any help!

Hey there- mind sharing your gpas? I am hoping to apply in 2017

Can you tell me what the deposit amount is once you are accepted into the program?

I don't think they even consider cumulative anymore. Only 60 and sci.

I think it was 200-250 deposit.

Dphom - where is the cheap housing down there lol everybody at the OU apts?

A lot of us in the cohort had rentals, living at home, or apartments in OKC. Some of us were from Norman too. I wouldn't suggest living in the OUHSC area as that is considered a little on the "rougher" side of town and then you have downtown/midtown that is really expensive. I would recommend anywhere NW Okc. I have a house in Edmond, so I'm a little biased on where to live! I know that's not much help. It's more of a commuter school, so living on campus is something I don't hear much of.
