  1. I honestly do not recall, but I’d say at least a 3.5 in either category. Maybe a little more forgiving with science GPA. At the time I applied, it was only about the two GPAs.. they don’t look at work history or what your previous degree was in. Maybe people who were just now accepted can share their stats. I know there are old OUHSC ABSN forums with applicants who shared theirs in the past.
  2. Congratulations! So exciting. Those coming from out of state, welcome! I recommend living off campus. ?
  3. I don’t remember exactly.. just that it took months. I got my FNP at OU. I work in interventional pain management. I thought the program was fine! Finding clinical placements were the most challenging thing, but I got lucky and had them in line at least 6mo-1 year ahead of time. My whole class passed boards the first time. The masters programs are now moving towards a DNP. OU is now a DNP and the other online programs are starting to follow suite!
  4. Oh gosh. I remember there were some long days and some short days, but you’re doing something 4-5 days of the week. An exam or quiz is every 1-1.5 weeks. Clinicals were 2-3x/week. Intercession courses during breaks. Majority of my class passed the first time. The others had to take it twice, but they were the ones struggling in the program. We took ATI exams that helped prepare us throughout the program. So, overall.. yes.. I think the program was enough for us to pass the NCLEX fine.
  5. Thank you!! Tip/advice: Make a facebook group page for your classmates to share documents, assignments, free discussion, etc. My class utilized it heavily! For those who get accepted, you’ll have a “buddy” in the class ahead of you. Ask if they’re willing to share old assignments, notes, or references as a guide for your assignments. Make friends with everyone!! You’re all in this together. It’s tough having an exam/quiz every week. Bounce ideas, further discuss, share information and share/work/divide up on assignments amongst each other. Independent studying is great, but take advantage of the group settings. My class was pretty tight knit! The support is really what you need to get by this fast paced program. I don’t advise to work. Very few classmates did and did great and not so great. All depends on your financial situation, of course. I had the blessing of being able to focus on school, do well, and keep my sanity.
  6. Hi future nurses!! I graduated the ABSN program in 2016. I am now a recent grad from their NP Program. Just randomly decided to check the forums to see what’s currently going on ? OUHSC doesn’t care to look into previous degree. Just your GPA and science GPA! At least, that’s what it was when I had gone through the program. I thought it was a great program and the 14 months came and went so fast! Highly recommend over the traditional track! I feel like a good number of my classmates came from the waitlist, even at very last minute. The spots are offered and then they obviously reevaluate the next candidate when someone passes on their opportunity. Good luck! Feel free to ask questions. I understand the anticipation and anxiety.
  7. They look at the overall application. I think they consider GPA more though because the school probably wants to retain competitiveness and higher numbers. I know that's not very helpful. There are people who got in with minimal experience to 10+ years. It's really how you look on paper and sell yourself if you're granted an interview.
  8. Research and know what exactly a FNP is and what they do; especially in Oklahoma. Organize your thoughts and figure out your strengths (clinical and as a student), how that sets you apart from others, and relate that your role as a FNP. Practice, be confident, and good luck! Make sure you have good grammar and content on your essay.
  9. Thank you! Yes, I got waitlisted via email and got a call that there was a spot that had opened up.
  10. Just got accepted to OKCs program! Good luck everyone. Keep pushing for it!
  11. They say that... but we all never did! :) I don't find it necessary unless it's been years upon years since you've had any type of anatomy or physiology and don't remember what a body part would be if they were to mention it. It really comes back to you during school, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. And, if it's really something they want you to know, they'll do a quick review to refresh because they know it's been a little while. Enjoy your time before nursing school starts! Congrats again! Haley, there's still lots of hope left on the waitlist for the ABSN program. I think a big chunk, if not half of my cohort were people off the waitlist. Some people got accepted 2 weeks prior to classes starting. Stay patient!
  12. If anyone finds out information about the waitlist or anything from the school, please post! May answer questions we have or didn't think of. Sounds like there's a good number of us on the waitlist for so little spots, which sounds a little discouraging. Good luck to all.
  13. I got waitlisted too. Okc has 10 FT and 15 PT spots, so I wasn't expecting to be top pick.
  14. Born and raised in Oklahoma, the area where OKCU is is historical.. so you have a mixture of hipster/old and renovated housing mixed in with the "rougher" population. Personally, I would take the 15-20 minute commute and drive from a better part of town, but that's just me. However, the area is improving with the renovations and new restaurants/bars that are popping up, so there's quite a few things to do now. A lot of young people love the area, but I would definitely scope out a good house or apartment complex rather than walking in blind.
  15. Ah, I think I know what you're talking about. It may be the other APRN programs that are more favored PT. I was told that the slots for the FNP PT/FT are just depending on how many seats are open with how many clinical sites are available, but the video said that they accept more PT because there are more applications for PT. So, idk... I'm a two time graduate from OU and attended the ABSN program. Hopefully going back for a third time
