University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

I was wondering if anybody else here is from out-of-state and can speak about how much tuition/cost-of-living in the Ann Arbor area is like? When I looked here http://ro.umich.edu/tuition/full.php#Second_Nur I am uncertain if the $21k is for the entire year or just a semester or something else.

That 21K number must be per semester. OUCH!!!. And actually, the $7375 number is a little low, because that's for up to 18 credits. Two of the 3 semesters it's actually about $8600 for instate because we are taking 20 credits

And because this is a second degree program, not much else in terms of financial aid from the federal government. Except loans. hahaha

Congrats to everyone else!

I went to undergrad at U of M and typically rent is $500-600 plus utilities. Ann Arbor is not a cheap place to live but it's an amazing city (hence why I've stayed.) I'm not sure if the second degree program offers dorm options but there's a housing website that you can access through the main homepage that has off campus listings. That might be a good option to find roommates & slightly cheaper rent. Good luck!

Zoowiggle - I went to U of M for undergrad too, and stayed in the student co-ops for 3 out of 4 years. If you're looking for lower cost alternatives, you may want to check them out. Each house has its own vibe. They have a website with lots of helpful info. It looks like fall-winter on central campus will be $585/month, which includes rent, food and utilities. Initial fees appear to be about $600; $500 is refundable after you leave. I can point you in the right direction if you're interested. I have to second Dave 48103 that out-of-state tuition is most likely $21k per semester based on what my roommate was paying in undergrad. Good luck!

Hello all,

It seems they have released another round of acceptances. This time it was from the waitlist.

Thanks for the update. Do you know how they notified people?

I have been following this post but finally decided to become a part! :) I got accepted a few months back and wanted to congratulate my future classmates, I can't wait to meet you! :)

I plan to move to Ann Arbor early August and am now looking for places. Is anyone else moving into town? And is anyone interested in rooming together??

Congrats again to everyone!!

Kit-

I got and email, then checked my wolverine access, and it was changed also.

Congrats Melierinrdh. Did you know there is a page on Facebook? If you haven't already you should join.

I was one of those on the waitlist and offered acceptance. Being the smart fella that I am, I accepted.

I'll be seeing some of you in the near future (maybe tomorrow).

Can anyone tell me the cost for UM's program please?
