University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Does anybody know if the 2011 2nd degree accelerated class has been finalized? I'm on the waitlist, but it seems crazy that they wouldn't have filled the class yet.

Have you joined the facebook group? Search "University of Michigan 2nd Career Accelerated BSN Program Class of 2012" and join, I think alot of waitlist ppl have already gotten accepted....I would guess it has filled. I ended up getting accepted to Bakers program this fall so am just going with that. But I was part of the group while I was waiting for a reply about the U of M program. Hope that helps. I'm sure they could give you more info....

I have a question for the people who got accepted into the program. Did anyone submit letters of recommendations with your application? I know the program doesn't require them but at an informational session someone asked if they could submit them and she said you could and they may look at them. It wasn't a very confident, "yes you should definitely submit them." I'm only worried because I'm afraid submitting them could be seen as not following directions because they are not part of the application. So did anyone who got accepted submit letters of recommendations?

I did. I had a couple of really good letters. I attached them as PDFs with the application, and I also emailed them separately to admissions. I figure, better to be as proactive as possible, and I got in.

I did not submit letters of rec and I got accepted also.

Hello...

I am new to allnurses and signed up primarily because I am wondering whether anyone out there knows whether people have begun to be notified of their acceptance to UofM's accelerated BSN program. I noticed in earlier posts that there is quite a bit of variability in when people are notified, but I am curious nonetheless. This appears to be the most active and most recently updated thread so I hope someone out there has heard something. Thanks!

KJ

I haven't heard anything yet. I submitted my app in early November. I heard from the admissions office that they are hoping to send out the first round of decisions in late January. Hopefully we'll hear something soon! Good luck!

I hope I hear something soon, the suspense is killing me. I hope it is good news. I put all of my proverbial eggs in UMich's basket. My decision to switch careers was fairly recent and I had to focus on fulfilling the pre-reqs for only one school. Since I live in Ann Arbor and it being one of the better nursing programs, I went for it. If I don't make it in I'll have to take more classes to be able to apply to other programs, obviously costing more time and money. Good luck to you too!

I know, every school wants something different! This semester I'm taking pre-reqs for other programs in case U of M doesn't work out. So I'm hoping to hear something before the refund date! I've been checking Wolverine Access obsessively, haha.

I don't know why they just can't all coordinate their pre-reqs. I was also hoping to hear before the refund date so that if I didn't get in I could make this semester a little easier on myself. I called the SON yesterday just to make sure they had all of my supplemental materials and they certainly didn't throw me a bone and give me any kind of indication as to when I could hear from them. A girl in one of my pre-req classes went to one of the recent information sessions and was told pretty much the same timeframe that you heard (late Jan.-early Feb. for the first decisions). Here's hoping.

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the 2nd career program. I have been reading your posts and wanted to let those of you who have applied know to keep the faith. Last year, admissions said the same thing about decisions being released Jan-Feb time frame. Most of us didn't hear ANYTHING until May and some even after that. They get in no hurry.
