University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Are clinicals 8 or 12 hours?

Yes, both, depending on what semester it is and where you are doing you clinical

We still haven't been rejected! ;)

gahhhhhhh! this wait is driving me CRAZY!

So I have been following this thread for quite some time and have decided to share my admissions experience with everyone. I have applied 3 consecutive years for this particular program. For each year, I have applied the first week the applications have become available. In 2009, I was waitlisted and had about 5 pre-reqs to complete. My waitlist notification came May 14th-ish 2009 on Wolverine Access, of which I had accepted to be on the list and later received a letter in the mail several days later. About August 2009, I received the letter that I was not going to receive an official spot for placement in the '09 cohort and was told by UM Nursing Admissions that the next year I would "strongly" be advised to reapply and admission would be favorable. I kept in pretty close contact throughout the next year as I completed the rest of my pre-reqs (got straight A's and stellar recommendation letters), put all my eggs in one basket for this program (my number one choice) and was flat out rejected in December 2009 for the Fall 2010 cohort. This year, my final year to apply for nursing before I seek other career options and abandon my dream, I submitted my application in August. About two weeks after Common App submission, an e-mail from UM confirmed they had received my application and materials 9/22/10.

I think that the decisions that are left hanging are all of us waitlisted hopefuls. I am in the same boat as most, checking my WAccess obsessively. If this year is anything like '09's admissions, the second week in May (or sooner) would be when waitlist letters are sent out. UM could be waiting for the first set of students for orientation come through and then they may have more available spots to send out letters to us that have been left nervously awaiting the news. Good Luck to all!

is that facebook group still active (University of Michigan 2nd Career Accelerated BSN Program Class of 2012)? i havent joined it, but was seaching it today looking to see if anyone heard anything (I'm always scared to log into to wolverineaccess, so I like to check to see if anyone posted any news so I know what to expect when I log in to wolverineaccess), but I was no longer able to find the group. has it been removed or gone private? Is there anyway I can view the group or possibly join it?

It is still there. Join in.

So...is it safe to assume that if orientation is May 9th and 13th, and I still haven't heard anything on my application, that I'm NOT in?
